To activate the Hotkey utility: 1 Click Start, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, Hotkey utility. The TOSHIBA Hotkey window appears. Sample TOSHIBA Hotkey utility window 2 Select the desired option. 3 Click OK. TOSHIBA Hardware Setup TOSHIBA Hardware Setup is the Toshiba configuration management tool available through Windows. To access it: . Click Start, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, Assist, or click the TOSHIBA Hardware Setup icon in the Optimize tab of TOSHIBA Assist. Toshiba Utilities 169 TOSHIBA Hardware Setup The TOSHIBA Hardware Setup screen appears. Sample TOSHIBA HWSetup window The tabs represent various dialog boxes. They are: . General—Allows you to view the current BIOS version or change certain settings back to their default values. . Password—Allows you to set or reset a user password for the power-on process and for instant security. . Display—Allows you to change various default settings for the built-in LCD display. . CPU (available on certain models)—Allows you to enable or disable CPU frequency switching modes. Dynamically Switchable—This mode is the default setting for your computer, and automatically changes the processing frequency and decreases voltage depending on the power source: . AC Power—If your computer is connected to the AC adapter, the CPU frequency mode is set to high for faster processing. Toshiba Utilities 170 TOSHIBA Zooming Utility . Battery Power—If your computer is running on battery power, the CPU frequency mode is set to low for slower processing. Switching the CPU to low allows you to conserve power and extend the operating time of your battery. Always Low—Sets the CPU speed to low when using either the battery or the AC adapter. . Boot Priority—Allows you to change the sequence in which your computer searches the drives for the operating system. . Keyboard—Allows you to access the wake-on keyboard function. . USB—Allows you to enable or disable USB Legacy Emulation. . LAN—Allows you to set networking functions. By changing any of the options that appear in the dialog boxes and clicking Apply, you can reconfigure that function. Any options that you change will become default settings when you restart your system. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility This utility allows you to select which applications will work with the zoom in/out hot keys (see “Hot Keys” on page 234). You may select all applications or any subset of the following: . Microsoft® Internet Explorer . Microsoft® Office . Windows Media® Player . Adobe® Reader® . Icons on the desktop To access the Zooming utility: Toshiba Utilities 171 TOSHIBA Zooming Utility 1 Click Start, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, TOSHIBA Zooming Utility, or click the Zooming Utility icon in the Optimize tab of TOSHIBA Assist.
