With the child seat fully reclined, open the belt shield at the back of the seat shell. Pull the yoke out from behind the seat and unhook one shoulder strap (dia 1d). Pull the cover from the top of the seat so that you can see the slots in the seat shell. Pull the shoulder strap through to the front of the seat. Handy tip – An alternative recline position may make the next step easier. Turn the chest pad tab sideways (dia 1e) and ease it through to the front of the seat . Then thread both straps through to the front of the cover. Re-thread the straps through the chosen slots in the cover. Then ease the metal tab through the matching slot in the seat by pushing it towards the back and centre of the seat shell (dia 1f). Pass the shoulder strap though the same slot and hook the shoulder strap back onto the yoke (dia 1d). Make sure that the straps are not twisted and that the thread colours on the shoulder strap match those on the adjuster strap. Repeat with the other shoulder strap. Now close the belt shield. IMPORTANT – The metal tab and chest pad strap should always lie underneath the shoulder strap (dia 1f inset). IMPORTANT – The shoulder straps and the chest pad straps MUST be threaded through the same pair of slots. IMPORTANT – The newborn insert MUST NOT be used when the child is over 5.5kg. Removing the newborn insert Press in and hold the harness release button and with your hand below the chest pads (dia 1a) pull BOTH shoulder straps forwards as far as they will go. Remove the buckle comfort pad by unfastening the hook and eye strip and easing it from the crotch strap. Unfasten the studs on each side of the newborn insert and gently pull it clear of the shoulder straps and buckle. While holding the child seat in place, pull position (dia 2g). The child seat should now be secure. To remove the child seat from the car simply unfasten the seat belt and unthread it from the guides. 3. Installing the child seat – Forward facing for 9-18kg – Standard routing ‘A’ IMPORTANT – Your child must weigh more than 9kg and be able to sit unaided with confidence. IMPORTANT – The newborn Insert MUST be removed and the crotch strap MUST be adjusted to the shortest length (dia 1h). Ensure that the recline foot is in the STOWED position before attempting to install the child seat forward facing. Check that the shoulder straps are the correct height for your child. IMPORTANT – The child seat MUST only be used with a lap and diagonal seat belt. Place the child seat forward facing in your car seat then recline it fully by lifting the recline handle (under the front of the seat shell). Pass the seat belt between the seat base and seat shell – Routing A (dia 3a). Fasten the seat belt, making sure that the seat belt is not twisted and that the lap section lies in the area of the base indicated by the red routing A . Thread the diagonal section of the seat belt through the red seat belt lock (dia 3b inset). IMPORTANT – The child seat has two red seat belt locks. ONLY USE the one FURTHEST away from the seat belt buckle. Firmly push your child seat into the vehicle seat using your body weight. Again, make sure that the lap section of the seat belt still lies in the area of the base indicated by the red routing label and then pull the top section here (dia 3c). Then pull here (dia 3d) to tighten the diagonal section of the seat belt. It is essential to make sure that the belt is pulled through the red seat belt lock at the correct angle, or else the belt will bunch and come out. Thread the belt around the diagonal seat belt guide on the side of the seat (dia 3e). The child seat should now be secure. To check pull forward firmly on the harness (dia 3e inset). There should be little or no movement. Checking the position of the seat belt buckle If, after following the installation instructions, your seat belt buckle looks like this (dia 3f) the child seat should now be secure. To check this try to pull the seat forward by the harness. It should feel firm, not loose. If, after following the above instructions, your seat belt buckle looks like (dia 3g) the child seat is NOT correctly installed. Try Alternative Routing ‘B’ (below).
