Remove muffler (B) and muffler gasket (C ). 5. Use a wood or plastic scraping tool to clean deposits from cylinder exhaust port. iMPOrTanT Never use a metal tool to scrape carbon from the exhaust port. Do not scratch the cylinder or piston when cleaning the exhaust port. Do not allow carbon particles to enter the cylinder. 6. Inspect muffler gasket, and replace if damaged. 7. Install muffler gasket and muffler. 8. Tighten muffler mounting bolts (or nuts) to 60-95 in • lbf (70-110 kgf • cm). 9. Install muffler support bracket (A). 10. Install guide bar and saw chain. See "Guide Bar and Saw Chain Installation/Removal." 11. Install spark plug lead and air cleaner cover. 12. Start engine, and warm to operating temperature. Stop engine. 13. Remove air cleaner cover and remove spark plug lead. 14. Remove guide bar and saw chain. See "Guide Bar and Saw Chain Installation/Removal." 15. Remove muffler support bracket. 16. Re-tighten mounting bolts (or nuts) to specifications. 17. Install muffler support bracket. 18. Install guide bar and saw chain. See "Guide Bar and Saw Chain Installation/Removal." 19. Keep the lower edge of the drive link sharp where indicated. SETTING SAW CHAIN Proper filing tools for setting saw chain are avail- able from your Echo dealer. • For setting saw chain, round file (33SL : 4.5 mm dia. or 20BPX, 95VP : 3/16 in.) and flat file are used. • To keep correct position and correct angle, use the file holder (Sure Sharp®). Top plate cutting angle Depth gauge 20BPX :55° 33SL, 95VP :60° • Place the depth gauge tool firmly on guide bar so that depth gauge protrudes. Then file top of depth gauge with the flat file until flat with top of the depth gauge tool. -Be sure to round off the front edge of the depth gauge. Properly filed cutters are shown in illustration. When setting of the chain is finished, soak it in oil and wash away filings completely before using. -When chain has been filed on the bar, supply sufficient oil to it, rotate the chain slowly to wash away the filings before using again. -If the chain saw is operated with filings clogged in the groove, the saw chain and the guide bar will be damaged prematurely. -If the saw chain becomes soiled with resin, for instance, clean it with kerosene and soak in it oil. NOTE These angles are referred to as Oregon 20BPX, 33SL, or 95VP.
