Release the safety switch when the appliance star ts to operate. As soon as you release the on/off button, the safety switch automatically resets to its off position to protect against unintentional operation of the appliance. if the safety switch does not work properly, the charging lights flash red. 2.2.2 Overheat protection The appliance is equipped with a built-in overheat protection. if you process a heavy load, the motor unit may become hot. if this happens, the built-in safety system switches off the appliance and all charging lights light up red for 16 seconds. ENGLiSHA1234567910111214B813CA1234567910111214B813C 5 D Note: 4.3 Charging lights If you mount the charger on the wall, you only need the upper part of the charger. 4.3.1 Remaining battery capacity 4.2 Charging your hand blender Charge the hand blender : • before you use the appliance for the first time, or • when the bottom charging light flashes blue to indicate that the batteries are low. Put the adapter in the wall socket. Put the appliance in the charger. 1 2 3 Make sure the charging lights flash blue to indicate that the appliance is charging. D Note: The adapter feels warm during charging.This is normal. • When you charge the appliance for the first time or after a long period of disuse, let it charge until all three charging lights light up blue continuously. • Charge the appliance for at least 15 minutes to use it for a light blending job (soup, puree). • When the appliance is fully charged, it has a cordless operating time of up to 20 minutes. 4 Keep the charger plugged in continuously and store the appliance in the charger. • The number of charging lights that light up indicate the amount of power left in the batteries. • When you switch the appliance on or off, the remaining battery capacity is shown for approx. 8 seconds. 4.3.2 Charging • The charging lights flash blue during charging. 4.3.3 Batteries fully charged • When the batteries are fully charged, all charging lights light up blue continuously. 4.3.4 Batteries low • When the batteries are low, the bottom charging light flashes blue. 4.4 Preparing the food 1 Let hot ingredients cool down before you chop them or pour them into the beaker (max. temperature 80°C). 2 Cut large ingredients into pieces of 2cm before you process them. E N G L i S H 5 Using your hand blender 5.1 Blending B Warning: • Do not touch the blades, especially when the blender bar is attached to the motor unit.The blades are sharp. • If the blades get stuck, remove the blender bar from the motor unit before you remove the ingredients that block the blades. The hand blender is intended for : • blending fluids, e.g. dairy products, sauces, fruit juices, soups, mixed drinks and shakes. • mixing soft ingredients, e.g. pancake batter or mayonnaise. • pureeing cooked ingredients, e.g. for making baby food. Attach the blender bar to the motor unit (‘click’). Shakes & mixed drinks 100-1000ml 60sec. 3 Immerse the blade guard completely in the ingredients to avoid splashing. 4 Slide the safety switch downwards (1), hold it in position and press the on/off button (2) to switch on the appliance. 5 Movetheapplianceslowlyupanddownandincirclestoblendtheingredients. 6 Clean the hand blender after use (see chapter ‘Cleaning’) and put it back into the charger to prevent the batteries from running low. 5.2 Chopping B Warning: Be careful when you handle the blade unit, the blades are very sharp. Be particularly 7 12 careful when you remove the blade unit from the chopper bowl, when you empty the chopper bowl and during cleaning. The chopper is intended for chopping ingredients such as nuts, meat, onions, hard cheese, boiled eggs, garlic, herbs, dr y bread etc. Use the serrated blade unit to crush ice.
