If for any reason the plug needs to be removed, it must be disposed of immediately and securely, as it is a potential shock hazard when inserted into a mains socket. ■ If the plug is removed then the remaining lead must be rewired as follows: ■ The blue wire must be connected to the terminal which is coloured blue or marked with the letter N. ■ The brown wire must be connected to the terminal which is coloured brown or marked with the letter L. ■ The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal which is coloured green and yellow, or marked with the letter E or the safety earth symbol. ■ When replacing the fuse in the supplied moulded mains plug, the integral fuse holder/cover must always be refitted. ■ Warning: This apparatus must be earthed. ■ For optimum sonic performance, the analogue power supply of the CD player is kept powered up all the time the unit is connected to the mains supply. The front panel power switch powers down all other circuitry leaving the analogue sections in "standby". This means that even though the power switch is off, it may be possible to hear a slight residual hum emanating from the mains transformer inside the CD player. This is perfecdy normal. If the unit is to be left unused for an extended period, we recommend that it is disconnected from the mains supply by switching it off at the wall socket. DELTA 270 ONLY DIGITAL AND AUDIO CONNECTIONS ® DIGITAL OUTPUTS - For use with a separate digital to analogue converter (DAC) or digital recorder. Connect to the unit's digital input using a suitable digital cable. Both outputs are identical and can be connected simultaneously if necessary. CD AUDIO OUTPUT - Connect to your amplifier's CD or AUX input using a suitable interconnect cable. ■ Insert the red phono plugs into the sockets labelled 'R.1 and the other plugs into the sockets labelled *L'. MAINS SUPPLY CONNECTIONS CD Insert the LEC line socket of the mains lead folly into the power inlet socket on the rear panel. Connect the other end mains supply. DELTA 250 ONLY DIGITAL CONNECTIONS The Delta 250 is fitted with a choice of 3 digital connectors. Use the appropriate connector for your DAC. (D PHONO OUTPUT - Connect to the DAC's digital input using a suitable digital cable. Both outputs are identical and can be connected simultaneously if necessary. 0 BNC OUTPUT - Connect to your DAC's BNC digital input (if fitted) using a suitable digital cable. This output generally gives better results than output CD OPTICAL OUTPUT - Connect to your DAC’s optical input (if fitted) using a suitable Toslink type optical cable. You should try digital outputs d*, @ and optical output © to determine which you prefer. (D SYNC LOCK INPUT - Connect to an Arcam Black Box fitted with the Sync Lock facility using a suitable Toslink type optical cable. The Sync Lock connection synchronises the Delta 250 and the Black Box automatically. The Sync Lock led (light emitting diode) on the Black Box's front panel will confirm this. Using the Sync Lock connection removes the timing errors generated in the digital signal connections, and should be used in order to achieve the very best sound quality. ® PORT FOR AT&T OPTICAL OUTPUT MODULE - The AT&T optical system offers superior sound quality compared to the Toslink system due to its wider bandwidth. It has the advantage over the co-axial outputs by being virtually interference free. It can rival, and in many cases surpass the quality of the co-axial outputs. If your DAC is fitted with an AT&T input you may wish to take advantage of its benefits. The AT&T module is available as an optional extra, and can be supplied and fitted by an Arcam dealer. OPERATION ® DISC DRAWER- - Accepts both 8 cm and 12 cm discs. Place the disc in the tray label side uppermost. LOAD - Opens and closes the disc drawer. The drawer can also be closed by gently pushing it in approximately 5mm. The drawer will then close by itself and engage PLAY mode (if a disc is loaded). ® PLAY - Press to play a disc or programmed selection.
