For video connection of other components, connect directly to the TV. DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter To DMPORT jack VCR, digital satellite receiver or PlayStation, etc. :Signal flow To connect the AUDIO OUT jacks of other components to the LINE (AUDIO IN) jacks of this unit Connect the VCR or other components to the LINE (AUDIO IN) jacks using the audio cord (not supplied). When connecting a cord, be sure to match the color-coded sleeves to the appropriate jacks on the components. White (L/audio) Red (R/audio) To connect the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter Connect a DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter (not supplied) to the DMPORT jack. For details of the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter, see “Using the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT Adapter” (page 66). continued 29GB Getting Started - ADVANCED - To listen to the portable audio source sound through the system Connect the audio output jacks of the portable audio source to the AUDIO IN jack on the front panel of the unit with the stereo mini-plug cord (not supplied). =cBIl=m Tp • When listening to MP3 format recordings using a portable audio source, you can enhance the sound. Press FUNCTION to select “AUDIO.” Connect the portable audio source. Press SOUND FIELD repeatedly until “A.F.D. STD” appears in the front panel display. To cancel, select other than “A.F.D. STD.” Note • Be sure to make connections securely to avoid hum and noise. •When you connect another component with a volume control, turn up the volume of the other components to a level where sound is not distorted. 30fiS Basic Operations Load a disc. Place one disc on the tray, and then press A. Playing Discs (2ШЯ EÜ2Z1 К1Л LLulLJ Adjust the volume headphones some operations may be different or restricted. Refer to the operating instructions supplied with your disc. 1 Turn on your TV. 2 Switch the input selector on the TV to this system. 3 Press 1/1. The system turns on. Unless the system is set to “DVD,” press FUNCTION to select “DVD.” 4 Press A. Note • When you play an 8 cm disc, place it on the inner circle of the tray. Be careful that the disc is not skewed on the inner circle of the tray. • Do not forcibly press the disc tray closed with your finger, as this may cause malfunction. • Do not place more than one disc on the tray. 6 Press H. The system starts playback (continuous play). Adjust the volume on the unit. The volume level appears on the TV screen and in the front panel display. Note • Depending on the system status, the volume level may not appear on the TV screen. • When you set the HDMI CONTROL function to on (page 79), the TV that is connected to the system with the HDMI cord can be synch-operated with the system. For details, see the HDMI CONTROL Guide (supplied separately). ■P • When you connect the system and TV with the HDMI cord, you can operate them simply, using the HDMI CONTROL function. Enjoying the Radio or Other Components Selecting the connected component You can use a VCR or other components connected to the LINE jacks on the rear panel. Refer to the operating instructions supplied with the components for further information. Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “LINE” appears in the front panel display. Each time you press FUNCTION, the mode of the system changes in the following sequence. DVD t TUNER FM t TUNER AM t LINE t TV t DMPORT t AUDIO t ... 32SS Changing the input level of the sound from connected components Distortion may occur when listening to a component connected to the LINE or the EURO AV T OUTPUT (TO TV) jacks on the rear panel or to the AUDIO IN jack on the front panel. This is not a malfunction and will depend on the component connected.
