Shooting Range and Focusing • If faces are not detected, or when only gray frames are displayed (without a white frame), up to nine green frames are displayed in the areas in focus when you press the shutter button halfway. • If faces are not detected when Servo AF (p. 97) is set to [On], the AF frame is displayed in the center of the screen when you press the shutter button halfway. • Examples of faces that cannot be detected: -Subjects that are distant or extremely close -Subjects that are dark or light -Faces in profile, at an angle, or partly hidden • The camera may misinterpret non-human subjects as faces. • No AF frames are displayed if the camera cannot focus when you press the shutter button halfway. Shooting Range and Focusing Shooting with Servo AF Still Images This mode helps avoid missing shots of subjects in motion, because the camera continues to focus on the subject and adjust the exposure as long as you press the shutter button halfway. Choose a subject, a person’s face, or a location to focus on. • Touch the subject or person on the screen. • When the AF frame mode is set to [Face AiAF], the camera beeps and displays when a face is detected. Focus is maintained even if the subject moves. • When the AF frame mode is set to [Fixed frame], an AF frame is displayed where you touched. • To cancel Touch AF, touch ^.
