Use the plastic handle to lift off the lid. 3. Take out the basket. 4. Fill the pan with oil. The oil or fat level should always be kept somewhere between the minis ssmum and maximum marks: FR1215: MIN. (1,5 litres) and MAX. (2 litres). FR1225: MIN. (2.5 litres) and MAX. (3 litres). 5. Plug the appliance into the mains and pressthe on/off switch. The pilot lamp will light up, fig. 2 6. Selectthe correct temperature forthefoodtobe fried. The thermostat green lamp will go, fig. 3 out as soon as the appliance has reached theselected temperature. 7. Place the basket into the drainsoff position, figure 4. Place the food to be fried inside thebasket. Do not overfill the basket. Slowly lower the basket with the food into theoil, figure 5. Place the lid on when frying 8. After frying, switch the fryer off (“0” position) and unplug the fryer from the mains supply. 9.Place the basket into the drainsoff position. Note: If various foodstuffs are to be fried, wait for the oil to reach the set temperature betweenfries. Always check the immersion level beforeeach use. The ideal oil level is somewhere bes sstween the MIN and MAX limits marked on the side of the frying pan. RECOMMENDATIONS Ufesa recommends the use of oil instead of fat when using this appliance. Solid fat can also be used but special precautions should be taken tostop it from splashing when it is melting. Do the following when using solid fat for frying: 1. Before the first fry, melt the fat for the fryer ina separate saucepan on a low heat. 2. Pour the liquid fat into the fryer’s pan. Avoidsplashing it. 3. Check that the liquid fat covers the minimumlevel mark. Switch the fryer on and carry out the frying. When solid fat which has been used for fryinghas solidified in the fryer, proceed in the follows ssing fashion: 1. Make some holes in the solidified fat with a sharp object. Be careful not to damage the heats ssing element. 2. Select a low temperature so that the fat sofs sstens up slowly. 3. When the fat has liquefied the temperature can be brought up higher. Note: If your fryer contains solidified fat, store it away at room temperature. REPLACING THE OIL The useful life for oil or fat depends on thenumber of uses and type of frying. Impuritiesend up at the bottom of the pan, the, locatedbelow the heating element. Because of this theparticles do not become charred and the oil orfat can be used for longer. It is advisable to pes ssriodically filter the oil in order to remove theseparticles. Always store the fryer with the lid fitted; to stopdust or other elements from spoiling the oil orfat.. Replace the oil when it becomes darker, hasbad smell or gives the food a bad taste. Neveradd fresh oil or fat to that being used. Used oil or fat must never be poured down thetoilet or sink. Dispose of it in a closed containerand take it along to the appropriate refuse cons sstainer. CLEANING & MAINTENANCE Wait until the oil or fat has cooled down before attempting to store the fryer.
