Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used and remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones, and other foreign crJec'3. not operate the equipment when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Always wear substantial footwear. 3, Never attempt to make a wheel height adjustment while the motor is runn g '/■’ - only in daylight or in good artificial light. 5, Never operate the equipment in wet grass, (continued next column) Always be sure of your footing; keep a firm hold on the handle and walk; never run. Operation: 1. Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. 2. Stop the blade when crossing gravel drives, walks, or roads. 3, After striking s ^reign object, stop the motor, thoroughly inspect the mower for any damage, and repair the damage before restarting and operating the mov^.\ f the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor and check immediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble. 5, Stop the motor whenever you leave the equipment, before cleaning the mower housing, and when making any repairs or inspection ten cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, make certain the blade and all moving parts have stopped. 7. Mow across the face of slopes; never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes. Do not mow excessive. Always disconnect electric mowers before cleaning, repairing, or adjusting. 9. Never operate the mower without proper guards, plates, or other safety protective devices in place. Maintenance and Storage: 1. Check the blade at frequent intervals for proper tightnecc 1 ~-v; all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to be sure the equipment is in safe working condition. DOUBLE INSULATION Your Mom UBLE-INSULATED to give you added safety. This means that it is constructed throughout with TWO separate ' “layers" of electrical insulation or one DOUBLE thickness of insulation between you and the tool’s electrical system. Tools built with this insulation system are not intended to be grour^vi- - ,i > s.iult, your mower is equipped with a two-prong plug which permits you to use extension cords without concern for maintaining a ground connection. NOTE: DOUBLE-INSULATION does not take the place of normal safety precautions when operating this mower. The insulation system is for added protection against injury resulting from a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool. ' CAUTION: When servicing Double Insulated Tools, USE ONLY IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT PARTS. Repair or replace damaged cords. SWITCH & CIRCUIT BREAKER The rocker-type switch, attached to the upper handle, turns the mower "ON” and “OFF." Always be sure that this button is in the "OFF” position before plugging extension cord into the power supply receptacle. When you turn the switch “OFF,” the motor is electrically braked so that the blade will stop rotating in about four seconds. DO NOT stop motor by disconnecting cord. A Circuit-Breaker is built into the switch to protect the motor from overheating when cutting thick, heavy grass. If the motor stops, and electric cord connections are intact, turn switch “OFF” and wait about minutes for the motor to cool. To restart motor, press in the circuit-breaker button, ^ 'v/; c, ar-d turn switch “ON.” If breaker continues to open, a higher cutting height adjustment may be necessary to reduce motor overloading. / a MOWING PROCEDUF,:F 1. Place most of the extension cord close to the electrical outlet, out of the path of the mower. CAUTION: Do not plug extension cord into receptacle outlet while standing in water or when hands are wet. MOWING PROCEDURE CGNT'D. 2. ^ Begin mowing in the area closest to the outlet and mow in a back and fourth manner (Figure 8). When you reach the edge of the lawn, pivot the mower on the rear wheels toward the cord. At the same time, grasp the cord and flip the cord over the mower so that cord again lies on cut portion of lawn (Figure 9B). This action at the end of each cut will keep the extension cord away from the path of the mower. 3. Mow across the face of slopes, never up-and-down. Exer-' cise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes. - Do not mow excessively steep slopes. Always maintain good footing. 4. Turn mower "OFF” when crossing any gravel area (stones can be thrown by the blade). 5. Set mower at highest cutting height when mowing in rough ground or in tall weeds. 6. From time to time stop the mower — UNPLUG COR7 ~ turn mower on its side.
