(Fig. 8) ¦ Never operate oven with propane cylinder in an inverted position. (Fig. 9) ¦ Push in and screw regulator into oven hand tight. You may insert the oven rack at different heights. Also, the oven rack may be flipped for additional height adjustments. To accommodate a large food dish, the crumb tray may be removed and the oven rack placed in the lowest support position. Fig. 3 ¦ Screw propane bottle into regulator hand tight. (Fig. 7) Fig. 7 ¦ Turn the control knob off. (Fig. 4) Fig. 4 ¦ Remove protective cap from top of propane cylinder. Save cap for use in storing. (Fig. 6) Fig. 6 ¦ Open oven door and insert the Crumb Tray in the lowest support position. Make sure it is inserted completely. (Fig. 2) NOTE: The Crumb Tray is recommended to help distribute heat evenly and keep the burner clean. Fig. 5 English-4 To Light DANGER • EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD • Propane is heavier than air and can accumulate in low places. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately. • Always attach or detach propane source outdoors; never while oven is lighted, near flame, pilot lights, other ignition sources or while oven is hot to touch. • This oven is very hot during use and can ignite flammables too close to the burner. Keep flammables at least 12 inches from the sides and 48 inches from the top of the oven. Keep gasoline and other flammable liquids and vapors well away from oven. • The oven must not be exposed to flammable vapors or liquids during lighting. WARNING • BURN HAZARD • Never leave oven unattended when hot or in use. • Keep out of reach of children. Match Lighting INSTASTART™ Electronic Ignition Oven ¦ Set on sturdy, flat surface. For outdoor use only. ¦ Open oven door. Oven door must be open during lighting. ¦ Turn the control knob counter-clockwise to the fully open position and push igniter button repeatedly until burner lights. (Fig. 10 and 11) NOTE: If igniter fails to light oven, use match to light burner. If the oven is wet the igniter may not spark. Fig. 10 Fig. 11 Fig. 13 Fig. 14 To Bake ¦ Use household baking dishes that withstand normal oven temperatures. ¦ The cooking temperature is not automatically regulated. ¦ Use the thermometer as a guide and manually adjust the temperature with the control knob. ¦ Continuously monitor the baking process while using the oven. Adjust the temperature and rotate the baking dish as necessary. ¦ Follow the recommended food preparation instructions on food packages. ¦ Cooking times may vary depending on weather conditions and altitude. CAUTION Use a LONG wooden match or a match extension. ¦ Set on sturdy, flat surface. For outdoor use only. ¦ Open oven door. Oven door must be open during lighting. ¦ Hold lighted match near burner (beneath the crumb tray) and turn the control knob counterclockwise to the fully open position. (Fig. 13 and 14) ¦ Open the door to view the burner flame below the crumb tray. ¦ Flame should be blue with a hint of yellow on tips. ¦ Adjust flame with the control knob. (Fig. 12) Fig. 12 To Toast ¦ Turn oven fully on. ¦ All rack positions may be used for toasting. Experience shows the upper levels tend to reduce time required and minimize the need for flipping the food. English-5 DANGER • EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD • Never store propane near high heat, open flames, pilot lights, direct sunlight, other ignition sources or where temperatures exceed 120 degrees F (49°C). • The cylinder must be disconnected when the oven is in storage. • Never store a propane cylinder inside the oven. (Fig. 18) To Turn Off To Store To Clean ¦ Make sure oven is cool. ¦ Move oven away from flame (including pilot lights) and other ignition sources. ¦ Remove propane cylinder from regulator and replace protective cap on cylinder. (Fig. 16) ¦ Remove regulator from oven. (Fig. 17) ¦ Wipe inside surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not scrub burner tube or cause any obstructions in burner ports. ¦ Remove food and baking dishes from the oven before carrying or transporting the oven. ¦ Make sure oven is cool. ¦ To carry the oven, firmly grasp the oven by the base. (Fig. 19) ¦ Turn the control knob off. (Fig. 15) Fig. 19 Fig. 18 • MAINTENANCE • Keep oven area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids. • Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air. • A good flame should be blue with minimal yellow tip. Some yellow tips on flames are acceptable as long as no carbon or soot deposits appear. • Wipe clean with soft cloth and mild dish detergent. Do not use oven cleaners or abrasives.
