Please refer to section “Environment”. How to use your Ladyshave Bodyselect • The appliance is prevented from being switched on accidentally by the safety switch incorporated in the selector. Keep the small button pressed down while sliding the selector. • Before you actually start, always first check if the switch is in the appropriate position for the skin section you wish to treat. • Place the trimmers and the shaving foil gently on the skin. Move the Ladyshave slowly and with light pressure over the skin. For best results direct the shaver head against the direction of the hair growth. - Under arms, bikini line: fig. 3-5 - Legs: fig. 6-8 - Pop-up trimmer (type HP 6327) for most efficient long hair clipping, also at the bikini line: fig. 9-11. The safety switch ensures that the trimmer remains in up position. After use: fig. 12 and 13. Cleaning (fig. 14-17) • Ensure that the appliance is switched off. • Avoid damaging the shaver foil: do not apply any pressure. • Do not use alcohol, acetone, gasoline, abrasives, etc. for cleaning the plastic parts. • Clean the appliance after each use. Do not use water warmer than shower temperature (approx. 35° C / 95° F). • If you wish, you can alternatively dry clean the hair chamber and shaving head by gently shaking appliance and shaving head, and brushing out the hairs. • Remove the mains plug from the wall socket before cleaning the charge unit. You can use a damp cloth for cleaning. Ensure that your hand is dry when inserting the mains plug into the wall socket again. Maintenance • Twice a year, spread a drop of light machine oil (e.g. sewing machine oil) on the shaver foil and the two trimmers (fig. 18). Replacement • If you use the appliance twice a week or more, it is advisable to replace the shaving foil and cutter unit every one or two years. - A worn-out or damaged shaving foil can be replaced only with the original Philips shaving foil unit type HP 2908 (fig. 19, 20, 21). - A replacement cutter unit is available under type nr. HP 2909 (fig. 22, 23). • If a trimmer is worn-out or damaged, please refer to your Philips dealer or to a Philips Service Centre for replacement. • The mains cord of this appliance cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the appliance should be discarded. Environment When discarding your old appliance in due time, remove the built-in rechargeable battery and discard of it properly (fig. 24-26): - Remove the plug from the wall socket. - Take the appliance out of the charge unit. - Let the motor run until the rechargeable battery is empty. - Remove the bottom section (fig. 24). - Using a screwdriver move the battery back and forth a few times to loosen it (fig. 25). • Do not attempt to replace the battery. • Do not place the appliance into the charging unit after removing the battery. - Put the battery into the box for chemical waste (fig. 26). - Put the motor and other metal parts into the metal recycling box. - The plastics of the product have been coded to enable recycling. Please dispose of the plastics according to local regulations. Contact your local government offices for advice on the services available to you. Bodyselect: unique 2-positions shaving foil This revolutionary Philips Ladyshave Bodyselect model is equipped with an adjustable shaving foil offering two positions: - the golden section of the shaving foil is most suitable to use under the arms and along the bikini line. (For closeness without skin irritation on delicate skin.) - the silvery section of the shaving foil is most suitable for the legs. (For maximum closeness on normal skin.) Dry? Under the shower? In the tub? You can use your Ladyshave Bodyselect either dry or wet while taking a shower or bath, at home or “on the move”. If you shave while taking a shower or bath, it is advisable to use soap or shaving foam for your personal comfort. After use you can simply rinse the appliance clean under the shower or tap. Charging The appliance is designed for cordless use only and is charged via the charge unit. Before using the appliance for the first time, or if it has not been used for a considerable time, it should be charged for at least 12 hours. A full charge is sufficient for 45 minutes (NiMH version) or 25 minutes (NiCd version) use. The version is indicated by a battery symbol on the packaging. - A shaver outlet is suitable for this appliance. - Keep the charge unit connected to mains power and always replace the appliance into it after use to recharge.
