66 Software Downgrading to Windows XP You will have the possibility of resetting the operating system if you however want to operate your notebook with Windows XP for some reasons. The notebook is supplied with all the necessary XP drivers. Please pay attention to the following in the case of a downgrade to Windows XP: • All the data on your notebook will be deleted during the installation. Secure your data on external media in order to avoid any loss of data. • A downgrade will only be possible with a Windows XP Service Pack 3 licence. • All device drivers will have to be reinstalled after the installation of the XP version. You will find them on the Application and support disk supplied with the notebook, under ‘Drivers’ and ‘Tools’ on the second partition. • An external disk drive and a disk will be necessary for the installation of the driver for the hard drive. These are not in the scope of delivery but they can be bought in specialist shops. • You will find the necessary installation files that will have to be copied to the disk on the second partition under Driver => WinXP in the Floppy_Inf Directory. Insert your disk (not contained in the scope of delivery) and restart the notebook, for the installation of the Windows XP Service Pack 3. Then, follow the instructions on the screen. General information: Limited support of OEM drivers with [F6] in during the installation of Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Handling of problems in the case of ‘Stop 0x0000007B’ errors in Windows XP Limitation to particular USB floppy drives: A connected USB disk drive will not function if you press [F6] during the Windows XP installation, in order to install mass memory drivers. A possible problem during an installation with F6 drivers: You will not be able to add device or HAL drivers in the Text Mode phase of the Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Set-up program after you have pressed F6 and then S, in order to enter control drivers.
