RECIPROCATING MODE - Blade teeth face downward as shown in figure F1. The LPS7000 accepts T-shank blades only. Thin kerf 10tpi or higher blade recommended. BLADE CLAMP RELEASE LEVER (FIGURE G) CAUTION: Burn hazard. Recently used blades may be hot. To install blade into saw: • Push down on the blade clamp release lever ( 5) to its full open position as shown. • Insert blade shank (9) from the front. • Release the blade clamp release lever (5). To remove blade from saw: • Push down on the blade clamp release lever (5) to its full open position. • Remove blade. • Release the blade clamp release lever (5). WOOD CUTTING NOTE: Use “T” shank 10tpi or higher, thin kerf blades. • Before cutting any type of wood, use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control. • Place shoe firmly against work to be cut. • Switch on saw motor before applying pressure. • Whenever possible, the shoe must be held firmly against the material being cut. This will prevent the saw from jumping or vibrating and minimize blade breakage. TREE TRIMMING • Hold shoe firmly against tree branch. If possible, cut close to the trunk to minimize movement of the branch. METAL CUTTING (FIGURE H) NOTE: Use “T” shank 18-24 tpi metal cutting blade. • In thin gauge sheet metals it is best to clamp thin plywood to underside of sheet. This will ensure a clean cut without excess vibration or tearing of metal. • Avoid forcing cutting blade as this reduces blade life and causes costly blade breakage. • When cutting metal piping, do not cut directly through the pipe as you would saw a wooden dowel. Instead, cut around the circumference of the pipe to avoid pinching the blade. Only one section of the blade should be in contact with the pipe. NOTE: You should spread a thin film of oil or other saw cut for easier operation and longer For cutting aluminum, kerosene is preferred. PROJECT TIPS • Cut only with sharp blades; faster and put less strain on while cutting. G H F F1 8 90547733 LPS7000 Saw 6/11/09 7:21 AM Page 9 • When cutting, always ensure that the shoe is resting against the workpiece. This will improve operator control and minimize vibration. MAINTENANCE Use only mild soap and damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid. IMPORTANT: To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustment (other than those listed in this manual) should be performed by authorized service centers or other qualified service personnel, always using identical replacement parts. BATTERY DISPOSAL Before attempting to disassemble this tool, turn it on and run it until it stops to ensure a complete discharge of the batteries. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws in the product housing and lift the housing half from the tool. Disconnect the terminal clips from the batteries and lift the batteries out. Problem • Unit will not start. • Battery will not charge. • Blade comes out of unit. TROUBLESHOOTING Possible Cause • Battery not charged. • Charger not plugged in. • Surrounding air temperature too hot or too cold. • Charger jack not fully plugged into tool charging socket. • Blade not fully inserted in blade clamp. Possible Solution • Check battery charging requirements. • Plug charger into a working outlet. Refer to “Important Charging Notes” for more details. • Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance. • Check to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when you turn out the lights. • Move charger and tool to a surrounding air temperature of above 40 degrees F (4.5°C) or below 105 degrees F ( +40.5° C). • Check to be sure charger plug is fully inserted into unit tool charging socket. • Check to be sure blade is fully inserted into blade clamp • Check to be sure lock-off is depressed. • Replace blade. • On/Off Trigger will not activate. • Lock-off not depressed. • Poor cutting performance. • Dull blade For assistance with your product, visit our website for the location of the service center nearest you 1-800-544-6986.
