General Safety Rules WARNING Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. Work area safety1. Keep work area clean and well a. lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Keep children and bystanders b. away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Personal safety2. Stay alert, watch what you are a. doing and use common sense when assembling Canopy. Do not assemble while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective b. equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries. Do not overreach. Keep proper c. footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the assembly tools in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear d. loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts during assembly. Specific Safety Warnings Do not attempt to assemble 1. Canopy when high wind conditions exist as personal injury and/or damage to the Canopy may result. Verify that Canopy is assembled 2. and firmly secured (using T-stakes provided) on a flat, level surface to avoid accidents. Do not allow snow to accumulate 3. on the Canopy; the Canopy could collapse. CAUTION!4. Heavy, wet snow or extreme windy conditions could damage the Car Canopy. It is recommended that the Tarp be removed under these conditions to prevent damage to the Car Canopy. Maintain Canopy with care. Keep the 5. Canopy clean, dry and free of oil, grease, liquids and other debris. Maintain labels and nameplates on 6. Canopy. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement. Do not use Canopy for any purpose 7. other than for what it was intended. Do not use Canopy as a source of long-term shelter. The warnings, precautions, and 8. instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator. Specifications Base Dimensions 20’ 8-1/2” L x 20’ 6” W Center Height 10’ Side Height 69-1/4” Frame Width 18’ 1” Pole Tubing Diameter 1-1/4” Connector Diameter 1-1/2” Tarp 14 x 14 mesh, 1000 denier nylon thread Unpacking When unpacking, make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at 1-800-444-3353 as soon as possible. CAUTION! Be alert to possible wind damage; prolonged exposure to wind can cause fasteners and hardware to loosen as the frame flexes. The Car Canopy’s frame strength will be compromised if fasteners and hardware are not tight. Periodically check and make sure all fasteners and hardware are tight. Tubes, stakes, tie downs and rope should also be periodically checked to make sure the unit is always structurally rigid. ASSEMBLY diagrams and Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. ALL PARTS BELOW REFER TO THE PARTS LIST SHOWN ON PAGE 6. WARNING! To ensure safe assembly, at least two people should assemble Car Canopy. Connect the assorted Tubes and 1. Swagged Tubes (parts #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7), 3-Way End Pieces (part #8), and 4-Way Center Pieces (part #9) together as shown in Figure A, below. The eight Turnbuckles (part #11) 2. are used to strengthen the frame assembly. Attach the Turnbuckles to the frame assembly and tighten, using a pair of pliers. See Figure B, next page. WARNING!3. Do not overtighten the Turnbuckles, as bending to the frame assembly will occur. Drape the Tarp over the assembled 4. frame and secure the corners of the Tarp onto the frame, by inserting the Tarp Ties (part #10) through the metal eyelets of the Tarp and around the Figure A framing Tubes as shown in Figures C and D, bottom. Once the corners are fastened, attach 5. the remaining Tarp Ties through the rest of the metal eyelets and onto the framing Tubes. Lift one side of the roof and insert 6. three Vertical Tubes (part #1) into the 3-Way End Pieces and 4-Way Center Piece. When complete, do the same to the other side. See Figure C, below. Insert a Nylon Base (part #12, not 7. shown) onto the bottom of each Vertical Tube. Secure the Nylon Bases to the 8. ground, using the T-Stake...
