INSTALLATION AND OPERATION Place your appliance in a location that is strong enough to support its total weight, keeping in mind that it will weigh substantially more when fully loaded than when empty. In order to prevent vibration and noise, the freezer should be leveled by adjusting the front leveling legs. Please note that this appliance is designed for “free-standing” use only. Choose a well ventilated location with at least 2-3 inches of clearance around the appliance. Locate the appliance out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources such as an oven or boiler. For your safety, please read the following nformation i Warning: This appliance must be installed on a circuit that is grounded. Operation Before plugging in your freezer for the first time remove all packaging, clean the freezer with a soft rag and a mixture of lukewarm water and baking soda (2 tablespoons baking soda in 1 quart of water orks well) . Wipe dry with soft cloth. w Temperature Control The temperature in the appliance is controlled by the thermostat control knob located in the lower section. Turn the thermostat control knob to regulate the temperature inside the unit. The knob has markings to indicate the relative temperature settings, but in general, turning the knob counter-clockwise corresponds to warmer temperatures; turning the knob clockwise corresponds to colder temperatures. Lock This freezer ships with a lock and two keys. To lock the door, close the door, insert the key into the lock, and turn. To unlock the door, insert the key into the lock and turn, then open the door Defrosting NEVER DEFROST THE UNIT BY USING A METAL TOOL (E.G., ICE PICK, SCREWDRIVER) TO SCRAPE OR CHIP OFF THE ICE. You may defrost this freezer once every few months or whenever .” of frost develops in on the walls. Remove the electrical plug from the wall socket, open the door and remove all contents. Defrost using a plastic scraper, or let the temperature rise naturally until the frost melts, then wipe away the remaining ice and water. You may also want to clean the unit at this time. Once you have finished, plug the freezer back in and make sure the temperature knob is still set where you would like it to be set. The colder the settings, the more frost will build up. Additionally, the more humid the ambient conditions, the more frost will build up. Keep the door closed as much as possible and avoid opening the door unless necessary to minimize frost build-up. Cleaning your freezer Before you start to clean your freezer, remove the electrical plug from the power supply. You may want to defrost the freezer at this time. If so, follow the above instructions. To clean the freezer, use a soft rag and a mixture of lukewarm water and baking soda (2 tablespoons baking soda in 1 quart of water works well). Clean the freezer and then dry it with a soft cloth. TROUBLESHOOTING Please check the following points: The freezer is not working - Check that the plug is inserted correctly into the wall socket - Check that there is power to the wall socket by plugging in another appliance. Check the fuse. - The freezer is noisy when running - Check to make sure that the freezer is level and it is not in contact with another appliance or furniture. - Note: a gentle trickling sound is normal; this is likely coolant in the sealed system or condensate water from the unit The freezer does not cool sufficiently - If the door has been opened too often, or it has been left open for a while it will take time for the freezer to reach its set temperature. - Check that the airflow from the rear of the freezer has not been reduced or obstructed due to insufficient clearance. Storage If the freezer is not in use for a long period of time, it should be stored. Disconnect the freezer from the power supply by removing the plug from the wall socket. Defrost, clean and dry the inside. Leave the door open to prevent any unpleasant smells from building up while the freezer is not in use.
