Frequency Station frequency (non-RDS service) About characters shown in the display When the display shows PS,or RT signals,the following characters are used. • The display window cannot differentiate upper case and lower case letters and always uses upper case letters. • The display window cannot show accented letters, for instance, may stands for accented like PTY (Program Type) indication and PTY-SEARCH function One of the advantages of the RDS service is that you can locate a particular kind of program from the preset channels by specifying the PTY codes. To search for a program using the PTY codes Before you start! • The PTY Search is only applicable to preset stations. • To stop searching any time during the process, press the RDS PTY button while searching. • There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting is cancelled before you finish, start from step 1 again. • When pressing the buttons on the primary remote control, make sure that you have selected the FM station using the primary remote control. 1. Press the RDS PTY button while listening to an FM station. 2. Press the TUNING ( ) button until the PTY code you want appears on the display. • The display gives you the PTY codes described to the right. 3. Press the RDS PTY button again, while the PTY code selected in the previous step is still on the display. • The centre unit searches 30 preset FM stations, stops when it finds the one you have selected, and tunes in that station. 28 English Basic Functions Setting the Clock For each step, you have a few seconds to set the required options. If you exceed this time, you must start again. 1. Switch the system on by pressing the STANDBY/ON ( ) button. 2. Press and hold TIMER/CLOCK button and then press the ENTER button. Result: "CLOCK" is displayed. 3. Press ENTER. Result: The hour flashes. `` Decrease the hours: _ `` Increase the hours: + 4. When the correct hour is displayed, press ENTER. Result: The minutes flashes. `` Decrease the minutes: _ `` Increase the minutes: + 5. When the correct hour is displayed, press ENTER. Result: "TIMER" appears in the display. `` The current time is now set. ..NOTE `` You can display the time, even when you are using another function, by pressing and hold the TIMER/CLOCK button once. `` You can also use [ or ] on the front panel instead of buttons in step 3,4. Timer Function The timer enables you to switch the system on or off at specific times automatically. `` Before setting the timer, check that the current time is correct. `` For each step, you have a few seconds to set the required options. If you exceed this time, you must start again. `` I f you no longer want the system to be switched on or off automatically, you must cancel the timer. Example: You wish to wake up to music every morning. 1. Switch the system on by pressing the STANDBY/ON ( ) button. 2. Press and hold the TIMER/CLOCK button and then press _ or + buttons until TIMER is displayed. 3. Press the ENTER ( ) button. Result: ON TIME is displayed for a few seconds, followed by any switch-on time already set; you can set the timer switch-on time. 444 Set the timer switch-on time. a Press the _ or + button. b Press the ENTER ( ) button. Result: The minutes flash. c Press the _ or + button. d Press the ENTER ( ) button. Result: OFF TIME is displayed for a few seconds, followed by any switch-off time already set; you can now set the timer switch-off time. 555 Set the timer switch-off time. a Press the _ or + button. b Press the ENTER ( ) button. Result: VOL XX is displayed, where XX corresponds to the volume already set. 666 Press _ or + button to adjust the volume level and press the ENTER ( ) button. English 29 04 Basic Functions 888 Press the ENTER ( ) button to confirm the timer. 999 Press the STANDBY/ON ( ) button to set the system to standby mode `` Standby mode: The power is turned off while the main unit is plugged in AC power supply. `` The system will switch on and off automatically at the required times. ..NOTE `` If the timer switch on and off times are identical, the word ERROR is displayed. `` I f there is no disc or usb, when you select the “DVD/CD, TAPE, USB, it will automatically change to “TUNER”. Cancelling the Timer After having set the timer, it will start automatically as shown by the TIMER indication on the display. If you no longer wish to use the timer, you can cancel it. 1.
