Clear, undistorted echo is obtained at a meter-reading of 'O’. During actual playing, the meter should indicate an input range of ‘0’ to ‘—3’. «PEAK LEVEL INDICATOR <1> Indicates input level above that which can be measured by the VU-Meter. When using high-output instruments such as an electric guitar, the pilot lamp should flicker on and off. If the indicator lights continuously, input is too high and should be lowered by adjusting volume controls. •MIC VOLUME/INSTRUMENT VOLUME <3><4><5> When microphones and/or instruments are connected directly to the echo chamber, these knobs are used to control input volume and recording volume. An independent 3-channel system allows simultaneous input from 2 microphones and 1 instrument. Knobs should be adjusted by monitoring the VU-Meter and PEAK LEVEL Indicator as described above. ®CONNECTION EXAMPLE (For input adjustement when echo chamber is connected to PA or Vocal mixer.) Adjust EFFECT CONTROL of each channel on the mixer by monitoring VU-Meter and PEAK LEVEL Indicator as described above. Use MAIN ECHO CONTROL on the mixer to adjust level of each channel in the following sequence. 1. Set MAIN ECHO CONTROL at ‘5’. 2. Adjust echo effect for each channel with mixer controls. 3. Set the MAIN ECHO CONTROL to the desired level by monitoring the VU-Meter and PEAK LEVEL Indicator. 2. ECHO/REVERB EFFECT AND TONE •MODE SELECTOR <6> By changing the combination and positions of the three playback heads, a total of 12 different echo variations can be obtained (4 ECHO ONLY, 7 ECHO/REVERB, 1 REVERBONLY). Playback heads, Reverb are activated by MODE SELECTOR REPEAT REVERB ECHO REVERB ONLY 12 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 Playback Heads 1 • • • • • 2 • • • • • • 3 • • • • • • Reverb • ••••• • • •REPEAT RATE <10> This knob controls interval of effect by varying the tape speed. Normally set at its center position. Clockwise rotation decreases length of effect by shortening both the intervals and duration. • INTENSITY <11> This knob controls echo repeat level. Clockwise increases level of echo repeat. Level should be set under ‘6’ to ‘7’, however, since higher levels tend to cause oscillation. CONNECTION METHOD In case P.A. Mixer or Vocal Mixer is to be connected. itnum iiMiüiu yuiwii »¡mm j£ - i_ - _ - ' - i i | In above cases, echo effect (echo depth) shall be adjusted by means of Effect-Volume of each channel and Main Effect Volume of Mixer. In case Mic and Instrument are to be connected directly to RE-201. (Fig. B) • ECHO VOLUME <1 2> This knob controls overall echo effect without altering original input settings. Clockwise increases echo effect. •REVERB VOLUME <9> This knob controls depth of reverb when MODE SELECTOR is set at ‘5’ to '11’ or 'REVERB ONLY’. Clockwise rotation deepens reverb. •BASS/TREBLE CONTROLS <7><8> These knobs control bass and treble of echo sounds without changing settings of original input. 3. CONNECTIONS •FROM PA INPUT <17> When connecting to mixer, link its TO ECHO (GREEN) to FROM PA (GREEN) of RE-201 (Fig. A). •MIC INPUT <13> <14> These are used for connection of microphones (fig. B). •INSTRUMENT INPUT <15> This is used for connection of instruments (fig. B). •ECHO/NORMAL CHANGEOVER SWITCH <16> When set at ECHO position, instrument input will be channeled through the echo chamber for echo effect. At NORMAL position, instrument input is not altered. Convenient for simultaneous inputs of instrument and vocals (i.e. microphones). •OUTPUT <19> When connecting to mixer, link its FROM ECHO (RED) to OUTPUT (RED) of RE-201. When connecting microphone or instrument directly to RE-201, link OUTPUT (RED) directly to amplifier input (Fig. B). • OUTPUT LEVEL CHANGEOVER SWITCH <1 8> Used to stabilize output volume of echo chamber. One of three positions L (low), M (medium) or H (high) should be selected to correspond with power of amplifier or mixer. •FOOT-SWITCH JACK <20> Used to connect FOOT-SWITCH to allow foot control of ECHO/REVERB effect. A light on the VU-Meter indicates ON. 4. STANDARD CONTROL SETTINGS Knobs of REPEAT RATE <10>, INTENSITY <11>, ECHO VOLUME <1 2>, REVERB VOLUME <9>, BASS CONTROL, <7> and TREBLE CONTROL <8> are normally set at '5’ and adjusted later for desired effect during playing. MIC VOLUME <3> <4> and INSTRUMENT VOLUME <5> should be adjusted by monitoring the VU-Meter and PEAK LEVEL Indicator for clear, undistorted sound. OUTPUT LEVEL CHANGEOVER SWITCH <18> is used with amplifier or mixer volume control for overall volume adjustment. When microphones are directly connected to the echo chamber, connect OUTPUT from RE-201 to FROM ECHO of mixer. If echo chamber is connected to mixer mic inputs, the OUTPUT LEVEL CHANGEOVER SWITCH should be set to ‘L’ or 'M\ BASS and TREBLE TONE CONTROLS <7> <8> control echo sound only and will not change tone inputs from the amplifier or mixer.
