The reusable nebulizer should last from six months to one year with general use. The disposable nebulizer should last 30 days. Stratos™Portable 30 Part No 1130202 SECTION 4—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Cleaning the Compressor CAUTION Unplug unit before cleaning. NEVER submerge the nebulizer compressor in water or the AC/DC adapter or auto adapter, hold under running water or spray with water or other liquids. This will result in compressor damage. If fluid gets into the area around the compressor outlet, wipe the area off with a dry cloth and let the nebulizer sit on its front end for five minutes. Then run the compressor for two minutes with no nebulizer or tubing adapter in place. WARNING DO NOT clean using abrasive cleaners. 1. Make sure the nebulizer is off and is not plugged into any power source. 2. Clean the casing of the main unit daily by using a soft cloth moistened with water or a mild detergent. Part No 1130202 31 Stratos™Portable SECTION 4—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Cleaning the Mouthpiece 1. Boil the mouthpiece in water for a maximum of five minutes or autoclave at a maximum of 121° C for ten minutes. 2. Allow the mouthpiece to air dry. 3. Once dry, the mouthpiece may be stored inside the nebulizer top. Stratos™Portable 32 Part No 1130202 SECTION 5—MAINTENANCE SECTION 5—MAINTENANCE DANGER DO NOT remove the compressor case. Failure to comply could result in electrical shock. All disassembly must be performed by an authorized Invacare service center. WARNING All maintenance on your Invacare Stratos Portable Nebulizer system must be performed by an authorized Invacare service center. Maintenance manuals and parts lists are available through Invacare upon request. Routine Care To keep your device in the best condition and protect the unit from damage, follow these directions: • DO NOT subject the device or the parts to any strong shocks such as dropping the device on the floor. • DO NOT store the device in extreme hot or cold temperatures, high humidity or under direct sunlight. Storage 1. Put the nebulizer and mouthpiece in the carrying case. Part No 1130202 33 Stratos™Portable SECTION 5—MAINTENANCE 2. Coil the air tubing. 3. Wrap the AC cord in a coil. 4. Zip the bag closed. 5. Store the device in a safe area. NOTE: Store the repackaged device in a dry area. DO NOT place other objects on top of the repackaged device. Filter Care The accessible filter MUST be replaced after one month of use or when it turns GREY. The filter should be replaced if the nebulizer has been in storage for three months or longer. CAUTION Use only the filters provided with the Invacare Stratos Portable Nebulizer device. DO NOT use cotton or any other material. DO NOT wash or clean the filter. Use only Invacare filters. DO NOT operate without a air filter. Stratos™Portable 34 Part No 1130202 SECTION 6—TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION 6—TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM SOLUTION Nebulizer overheats. The nebulizer has an internal thermal protector to prevent the device from overheating. If the internal temperature reaches the preset level, the unit will automatically shut down, and the power LED will turn RED. Turn the unit OFF for a minimum of 40 minutes to allow the nebulizer to cool. The nebulizer does not operate. Check all power sources to the nebulizer. Push the ON/OFF button again. Medication does not nebulize properly. Check for proper connection of the tubing adapter. Make sure the nebulizer is in an upright position and not tilted beyond 30.. Make sure the nebulizer is not empty. Clean the nebulizer as described in the manual. Make sure the cone has been properly placed in the nebulizer cup. Replace the nebulizer. Check the intake filter and replace it if it is dirty. Nebulizer delivers no mist. Make sure the cone is in the cup and properly seated. Part No 1130202 35 Stratos™Portable SECTION 6—TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM SOLUTION Nebulizer does not work, The thermal protector has been activated due and the light indicator is red. to: a. The device operating outside the conditions outlined in this manual. b. The device has been operating near heat sources or in hot environments. Allow the nebulizer to cool down for a minimum of 40 minutes. Wait until the RED light turns off before turning the nebulizer on again. Optional battery is not Battery was not properly conditioned (charged working optimally. for at least 16 hours before first use). If it has been in use for approximately four months, it may be time to recondition the battery. Optional battery is not charging. Battery will not charge if connected to the nebulizer. Check all power cord connections and cord conditions. Check power outlet.
