Scrolling with the TouchPad™ There are two active regions on the TouchPad that allow you to scroll as you would with any wheel device on a mouse or trackball. To scroll vertically, run your finger up or down along the right edge of the TouchPad. To scroll horizontally, run your finger along the bottom edge of the TouchPad. This feature can be disabled or changed in the Mouse Properties dialog box. Control buttons When a step instructs you to click or choose an item, move the cursor to the item, then press and release the primary (left-hand) button. To double-click, press the primary button twice in rapid succession. The primary button usually corresponds to the left mouse button. The function of the secondary (right-hand) button depends on the program you are using. It usually corresponds to the right mouse button. Check your program’s documentation to find whether it uses the right mouse button. Disabling or enabling the TouchPad The TouchPad is enabled by default. To change the enable/ disable TouchPad setting: 1 Click Start, and then Control Panel. The Control Panel window appears. 2 Click Printers and Other Hardware. 3 Click the Mouse icon. 4 Click the TouchPad On/Off tab. The Mouse Properties window closes. 8 Close the Printers and Other Hardware window. 9 Close the Control Panel window. You can also use a hot key to disable or enable the TouchPad. See “Disabling or enabling the TouchPad” on page 234. 64 64 Getting Started Using external display devices Using external display devices Your computer comes with a built-in LCD display, but you can also connect an external display device to the available video ports: . An external monitor or projector via the RGB (monitor) port . A standard television, projector, or VCR/DVD player via the S-video Out port Before connecting a television, video projector, monitor or other external display device, configure your computer for the type of device you are connecting. To do this, refer to the documentation for your operating system and devices. Connecting an external monitor or projector You can easily attach an external monitor or projector to your computer if you need a larger screen. To do this: 1 Connect the monitor’s video cable to the RGB (monitor) port on the left side of the computer. 2 Connect the device’s power cable to a live electrical outlet. 3 Turn on the external device. 4 Set the display mode by pressing Fn + F5, or by configuring the Display Properties settings. Directing the display output when you turn on the computer Once you have connected an external display device, you can choose to use the internal display only, the external device only, or both simultaneously.
