Lift the display panel out of the display cover. 1 display bezel 2 M2.5 x 5-mm screws (6) 3 rubber bumpers (6) CAUTION: Before you perform the following procedures, see the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide. NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer. 8. Press in both sides of the top flex-cable connector, and pull the top flex-cable connector away from the display connector. 9. Use the pull-tab to disconnect the bottom flex-cable connector from the inverter connector. Replacing the Display Panel 1. Reconnect the top flex-cable connector to the top display connector. 1 display panel screw #1 2 display panel 3 display cover 4 display panel screw #5 5 M2 x 3-mm screws (8) 1 pull-tab on bottom flex-cable connector 2 top flex-cable connector 3 display connector 4 inverter connector 2. Reconnect the bottom flex-cable connector to the inverter connector. 3. Place the display panel inside the display cover. 4. Replace the eight M2 x 3-mm screws (four on each side) around the display panel. 5. Replace the display bezel. Display Latch Removing the Display Latch 1. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer." 2. Remove the hinge cover. 3. Remove the keyboard. 4. Remove the display. 5. Remove the display bezel. 6. Slide the latch to the right and lift up. 7. Remove the spring that attaches the latch to the display panel. Replacing the Display Latch 1. Replace the spring that attaches the latch to the display cover. 2. Align the latch with the display cover and slide the latch to the left to secure it into place. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer." 2. Remove the Mini PCI card (if applicable) and the optical drive. 3. Remove the hard drive. 4. Remove the hinge cover. 5. Remove the keyboard. 6. Remove the display assembly. 7. Remove the palm rest. 8. Remove the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws, and disconnect the connector that connects the fan to the system board. 9. Align the fan and system board screw holes and place the fan on the system board. 2. Replace the two M2.5 x 5-mm screws. 3. Connect the fan cable to the system board. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer." 2. Turn the computer over and remove the two M3 x 3-mm screws. 3. Slide the hard drive out of the computer. Replacing the Hard Drive 1. Slide the drive into the bay until it is fully seated. 2. Replace and tighten the screws. 3. If the new hard drive is not already pre-imaged, install the operating system and device drivers for your computer. CAUTION: If you remove the hard drive from the computer when the drive is hot, do not touch the metal housing of the hard drive.
