As each cycle begins, you may–or may not– hear the drain motor. The next sound you will hear is thesplashing water as it enters the tub. Then thelower arm rotates and circulates water. This is followed by a pause and a slightly differentsound as the middle arm sprays water. If youlisten closely, you will hear the change in sound as the wash action switches from one arm to the other. PLEASE BE ADVISED: If you comparethis dishwasher to previous models, youmay be surprised at what you DON’Thear! Getting Started 1. Load dishwasher (See Preparing andLoading Dishes). 2. Add detergent (See Dishwasher Dispenser& Detergents). 3. Add rinse aid, if needed (See Rinse Aid). 4. Turn dial clockwise to select cycle (SeeCycle Chart) or number of hours for delay start. 5. Select desired energy OPTIONS (SeeEnergy Options). The indicator will show redwhen selected. 6. If using DELAY START, see "Delay Start." 7. For instructions on connecting the portabledishwasher, see “Connecting and Disconnecting the Portable/ConvertibleDishwasher.” 8. Run hot water faucet nearest dishwasher until water is hot. Turn water off. 9. To start, close door to latch. Delay Start (available selectmodels) Allows you to delay starting the POTS & PANScycle. • Turn dial to select number of hours. • Select HI-TEMP WASH ON option andother desired options. • Close door to latch. The DELAY START light(available select models) will come on. For pots, pans, casseroles, and dinnerware with dried-on or baked-on soils. For glasses and other lightly soiled items. • Turn dial to POTS & PANS/HEAVY WASH. • Select desired OPTIONS. • DO NOT USE detergent. • Turn dial to RINSE HOLD. • Select HEAT DRY OFF. • Press MAIN CYCLES pad. • Select desired options. • Turn dial to LIGHT/CHINA. • Press CHINA ONLY pad. • Select drying option. • Turn dial to LIGHT/CHINA. Wash action will continue but timer will not advance until proper temperature is reached. The hotter water provided by this option helps activate dishwasher detergent to clean food grease and soil from dishes. HITEMP WASH ON option can be used with any cycle except RINSE HOLD and is not recommended for use with CHINA. To turn off option, select HI-TEMP WASH OFF. * Includes dry time. Hi-Temp Rinse Option (availableselect models) When HI-TEMP RINSE ON option is selected, the dishwasher heats the water in the final rinse to approximately 140°F (60°C). This will speed drying and reduce spotting. HI-TEMP RINSE ON option can be used with any cycle except RINSE HOLD. To turn off option, select HI-TEMP RINSE OFF. 5 OperatingInstructions (continued) Heat Dry Option HEAT DRY ON option provides faster drying sincethe heating element is on during the drying portion of cycle. The HEAT DRY option in combination with rinse aid will give you excellent drying results. The energy to use HEAT DRY costs pennies per cycle. You may turn off the HEAT DRY option, however you will have items in your dish load that will not be dry at the end of the cycle. With either option, you may see water vapor coming from vent during the washing and/or drying portion of cycle. On some models, the vent is closed during washing to hold moisture and sound inside and then opens for drying.
