An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety, and to prevent loss of performance. The smaller the gauge, number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable; that is, 18 cjayg© has more capacity than 18 gauge. When using more than one extension cord, be sure each individual extension contains at least the minimum wire size appropriate for the. total length of your extension. To determine the minimum size required, refer to the chart below: CHART FOR MINIMUM WIRE SIZE (AWG) OF EXTENSION CORDS NAMEPLATE RATING-WATTS TOTAL EXTENSION CORD LENGTH-FEET 0-120 25 50 75 100 125 150 175 200 ' . 18 18 16 10 14 14 12, 12 Operatiore Install wire stand by spreading apart legs and inserting ends of wire into holes in nose of gun. (202 LT only) Iriseit oval stick of Low Temperature adhesive into inlet tube of gun’s meit chamber. Squeeze trigger or push with thumb to set adhesive spck firmly in chamber. Plug in gun and wait 3-5 minutes for gun ¿0 neat. WARNING: TOOL iS “ON” AS SOON AS ST IS PLUGGED In. NOTE: On initial use, a second stick of adhesive may -be required to be loaded into gun immediately after advancing the firs! sick to p.-j&jce Hew, CAUTION; Feeding or pushing adhesive stick with too rr.-joh force into a heated gun may cause hot adhesive to be unexpectedly expelled from nozzle. Apply adhesive by,squeezing trigger. The more the trigger is pulled, the more glue will flow out of nozzle. When gun stops feeding glue, release trigger and squeeze again. When one adhesive stick is depressed to the level of inlet tube lip, insert another. ' ' ■ • ■ - ■ 4 Operation (continued) In between applications use stand to keep the unit upright for good ventilation. Simply rotate stand forward for use. (202 LT only) MOTE: We recommend placing a piece of scrap material under nozzle to prevent damage to surface the unit is resting on, When all gluing operations are completed, simply unplug tool and allow it to cool to room temperature. Store away in safe, dry place. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PULL THE UNUSED STICK FROM GUN AFTER USE, Any unused adhesive can be reheated and used at a future date without any loss of bonding strength. WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT UNIT HAS COOLED DOWN BEFORE PLACING IN STORAGE. ^ Tips On Using Your Low Temperature Glue Gun 1. Make sure the surfaces to be bonded are clean and free from dirt or oily films. Clean surfaces always bond best so take time to prepare the surfaces prior to gluing. 2. Surfaces should be pressed together within 10 seconds of the adhesive being applied. Thin beads will dry fastest. 3. Working time can be extended to 30 seconds or more by applying the adhesive in large heavy pools (1/2" diameter). 4. Working time can also be extended by preheating the surfaces to be bonded. This can be done with a hand held hair dryer. This will also improve bond strength. 5. It is always best to work in a room with an ambient temperature of 68° to 72°F. Extreme cold will quicken set-up time. 6. The use of clamps or holding devices is usually not required. 7. Bonding large areas is not recommended since adhesive will set before positioning can occur. 8. Low Temperature Glue begins to soften at temperatures exceeding 132°F. Low Temperature Glue should not be used on items subjected to temperatures above 132°F. Tips On Using Your Low Temperature Glue Gun (continued) 9. Do not use Low Temperature Glue in place of structural fasteners to hold heavy loads. 10. Low Temperature Glue can be stored indefinitely, even in the gun, and be remelted at future uses with full bonding capability. 11. Low Temperature Glue can be used to bond items on both latex and mylar balloons. The glue should be applied to the item being put on and not directly to the balloon. Press the item with glue ■ applied to it and position on the balloon. Always wear eye protec-tion. 12. Two types of Low Temperature Glue are available: Ail Purpose - Normal Setting Time Slow Set - Extended Setting Time ' 13. Some paints and stains containing petroleum distillates can weaken the adhesive. Test before using. You may need to paint or stain before gluing. 14. Hardened glue may be removed by peeling, scraping or reheating with the hot tip of gun. " ’ ' Cleaning Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Many household cleaners contain chemicals which could seriously damage the plastic. Also, do not use gasoline, turpentine, lacquer or paint thinner, dry cleaning fluids or similar products. Never let any liquid get inside of tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid. 6 Important To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustments should be performed by Black & Decker Service Centers or other qualified organizations.
