For details, see page 39. 28 Using the MENU The PICTURE SETTING Menu The PICTURE SETTING menu is used for adjusting the picture or volume. Picture Mode Standard Adjust Picture... Volume: 30 PICTURE SETTING Input A PICTURE SETTING Contrast: 80 Brightness: 50 Color: 50 Hue: 50 Sharpness: Middle Black Level Adj.: Off Gamma Mode: Graphics Color Temp.: Low Video ADJUST PICTURE Standard Setting items Functions Initial setting value Picture Mode Selects the picture mode. • Dynamic: Emphasizes the contrast to produce a “dynamic” picture. • Standard: Normally select this setting. If the picture has roughness with the “Dynamic” setting, this setting reduces the roughness. The following picture mode can be used for VPL-ES2 only. • Game: Select for viewing game picture. • Living: Select for viewing sports, music, digital video camera picture. • Cinema: Select for viewing film-like picture. • Presentation: Select for viewing presentation files according to an input signal Volume Adjusts the volume. 30 Adjust Picture... The unit can store the setting values of the following sub menu items for each “Dynamic,” “Standard” or “Game,” “Living,” “Cinema,” “Presentation” (VPL-ES2 only) picture mode separately. Contrast Adjusts the picture contrast. according to an input signal Brightness Adjusts the picture brightness. according to an input signal Color Adjusts color intensity. according to an input signal Hue Adjusts color tones. The higher the setting, the picture becomes greenish. (VPL-ES2 only) Using black level adjustment results in a vivid image with clearly defined light and dark areas. Set the black compensation in accordance with the image source. High: Strong balck compensation Low: Weak black compensation Off: No black compensation according to an input signal Gamma Mode Selects a gamma correction curve. • Graphics: Improves the reproduction of halftones. Photos can be reproduced in natural tones. • Text: Contrasts black and white. Suitable for images that contain lots of text. Graphics Color Temp.
