NOTE:
Ensure that you execute the correct patch for your operating system. For example, if you
are applying this patch on WIndows 2008 x64, then double-click
RMS_4.2.0_P01_2k8_x64_Patch.msp.
CAUTION:
If you select the incorrect patch for your operating system, remove the patch manually
before reapplying the correct patch. The patch will not error out if incorrectly installed.

Choose the Repair option and click Finish (selecting the Remove option will uninstall the existing
version of HP 3PAR Recovery Manager 4.2.0 Software for Microsoft SQL Server).
6.
When the installation has completed, click Close.
After closing, the system configuration information is gathered and displayed in a text file named
RMSCfgChk.txt. This information is useful for verifying whether all the required components
are present on the system.
7.
The Recovery Manager for SQL service will be started automatically.
If not, start the 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL service (or run: Net start RMSQLAgent).
Verifying the Patch Installation
1.
Log on as the System Administrator.
2.
Click Start —> Control Panel —> Programs and Features —>View installed updates.
3.
Verify that Update for 3PAR Recovery Manager for Microsoft SQL Server (4.2.0-P01) appears
under the Installed Updates Name column for Windows 2008. Verify the same by selecting the
Show updates check box on Windows 2003.
Installation Troubleshooting
•
If the 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL Server Service, 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange
Service, or the HP 3PAR Recovery Manager GUI/CLI is running while you are installing this patch,
you are prompted to close the application and then click Try Again or Continue the installation.
It is recommended that you stop the running service and click Try Again. If you continue without
stopping the service, you will need to perform a system restart.
•
If an HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for Microsoft SQL Server version other than 4.2.0.13 is installed,
you will receive a version error message.
•
If HP 3PAR Recovery Manager 4.2.0 Software for Microsoft SQL Server is not installed, you will
receive an installation error message.
