New Features in Recovery Manager for SQL Server 4.1.0
3PAR Recovery Manager 4.1.0 for Microsoft SQL Server supports the following features:
• Management of SQL servers across multiple workgroups or active directory domains from a
single Recovery Manager backup server.
• Enhancement to the Virtual Copy retention policy to support time-based expiration.
• Implementation of a new Task Scheduler that provides the ability to create, edit, start,
delete, and end scheduled tasks. The tasks supported in this release are creation of Virtual
Copy and remote Virtual Copy, and backup of Virtual Copy.
• Enhancement to the file copy restore feature that provides an option to clone a SQL
database. This option enables users to create a new database in order to perform data
validation and/or data analysis.
• Enhancement to the Recovery Manager GUI that allows users to configure email
notifications for operations completed and/or failed. Email notifications can be configured
for creation of Virtual Copy and remote Virtual Copy, and backup and restore of Virtual
Copy.
• Ability to take an application-consistent virtual copy in a Synchronous Long Distance
Remote Copy configuration on a target system that is configured with Asynchronous
Periodic Remote Copy.
• Enhancement to the analyze functionality in the Recovery Manager GUI that allows users to
synchronize the Recovery Manager repository with the InServ.
• Display of version information for all installed 3PAR components.
• Consolidation of all error messages in Recovery Manager for Microsoft SQL Server into a
single message catalog, accessible from the Recovery Manager GUI.
• Alleviation of the restriction on Microsoft Windows versions that can run on the Recovery
Manager backup server and production server. If the production and backup servers run the
same version of the OS, the restriction between 32-bit and 64-bit platforms no longer exists.
For example, a production server running Windows 2008 in 64-bit mode can now be
managed by a Recovery Manager backup server running Windows 2008 in 32-bit mode.
