Description
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv and HP Scalable NAS provide high availability for Oracle database instances
and Net Services listener processes. It is intended for single-instance databases (non-RAC).
Supersedes MxDB-Oracle-HiAv 3.5.1
MxODM is discontinued
The PolyServe MxODM product is not supported with MxDB-Oracle-HiAv 3.7.0. MxODM was a
specialized implementation for PSFS filesystems of the Oracle Disk Manager (ODM) library interface
defined by Oracle. MxODM provided a user mode implementation of async I/O. This interface
originally produced datafile I/O performance improvements when compared to using the standard
Linux I/O calls, as earlier versions of Linux had poor or nonexistent asynchronous I/O implementations.
However, Linux 2.6.18 (and higher) offers kernel mode (not user mode) performant async I/O
implementations, eliminating the performance advantage provided by the MxODM product.

The supported Oracle releases are 10.2.0.4 (and later) and 11.1.0.7 (and later).

HP Scalable NAS 3.7.0 on a supported 64-bit Linux operating system.

Open issues and workarounds
The following open issues affect MxDB-Oracle-HiAv.
• MxDB-Oracle-HiAv defect 16307. If a valid .matrixrc file does not exist, the rpm -e command
will hang when attempting to uninstall MxDB-Oracle-HiAv. A valid /root/.matrixrc file must
exist on all servers that will be used with MxDB-Oracle-HiAv.
