RADIO switch: - ON - radio is switched on - OFF - radio is switched off © ▼ - slow backward © ALARM 2 to set alarm time 2 (D SLUMBER - to slumber/set slumber time © ALARM RESET - to switch off the alarm for 24 hours ® REPEAT ALARM/SLUMBER OFF - to switch off the alarm temporarily - to switch off slumber function @ Clock display - shows the time - ALARM and PM indicators (PM indicator not all versions) © VOLUME - to adjust sound level ® Nightlight ® BAND SWITCH - for waveband selection © NIGHTLIGHT ON/OFF - to switch the nightlight on and off ® NIGHTLIGHT HI/LO - to adjust the brightness of the nightlight ® TUNING - for station selection MAINS CONNECTION_ • Check if the mains voltage as shown on the type plate on the base of the set corresponds to your local mains supply. If it does not, consult your dealer or service organisation. -As soon as you insert the mains plug into the wall socket, the figures on the display will blink. This means that you must set the correct time. 4 INSTALLATION RADIO/CLOCK® FITTING A MAINS PLUG (U.K. only) This apparatus is fitted with an approved moulded 13 Amp plug To change a fuse in this type of plug proceed as follows • Remove fuse cover and fuse • Fix new fuse which should be a BS1362 5A, A.S.T A. or BSl approved type • Refit the fuse cover. If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlets, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug fitted m its place If the mams plug contains a fuse, this should have a value of 5A. If a plug without a fuse is used, the fuse at the distribution board should not be greater than 5A. NOTE The severed plug must be disposed of to avoid a possible shock hazard should it be inserted into a 13A socket elsewhere HOW TO CONNECT A PLUG The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code. BLUE - ‘NEUTRAL- CN1) and BROWN - 'LIVE-CL") As these colours may not correspond with the colour markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: • The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter “N" or coloured BLACK. • The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter V or coloured RED • Do not connect either wire to the earth terminal in the plug which is marked by the letter “E" or by the safety earth symbol or coloured green or green-and-yellow. • Before replacing the plug cover, make certain that the cordgnp is clamped over the sheath of the lead - not simply over the two wires RADIO Switching on the radio • Set the RADIO switch © to ON. The radio will now come on. • Select the waveband with the BAND switch • Select the required station with the TUNING knob ®. • Adjust the sound level with the VOLUME control Switching off the radio • Set the RADIO switch © to OFF (see also ■SLUMBERING). Aerials -The AM aerial is built into the appliance. You may have to adjust the position of the clock radio slightly for better reception. - For FM reception there is an aerial wire built in into the power cord. You should adjust the power cord slightly to obtain optimum reception. CLOCK _ _ Clock display -The clock display shows the time. The display also indicates whether you have switched on the alarm. If alarm 1 is on, then ALARM 1# lights up in the display. For alarm 2 ALARM 2* lights up in the display and for the dual alarm both light up. Setting the time • Keep TIME button © pressed and set the correct time as follows. - Fast forward with the i button ©. - Slow backward with the Y button ©. • Release the TIME button ©.
