Operating temperature: 0-50 °C. Functions of the clock The radio controlled clock of Braun ABR 314 df is set and controlled automatically and absolutely accurately by the long wave radio signal of the German time transmitter DCF 77 (Central European Time). The transmitter is situated in Mainflingen, 24 km south of Frankfurt/Main. The DFC 77 transmitter uses the caesium atomic clock of the Federal Physical Technical Institute in Brunswick as its time source. Reception of the radio controlled clock The radio signal can be received within a 1000 km radius of the transmitter, depending on the position of the clock and the local conditions. Interference can occur as with any radio receiver, for example from external factors such as TV sets, computers, radios, or by metal panelling in or on buildings. Please see paragraph «Interference». To activate the lock function, first press the button «alarm off» © and then slide the switch © to the position «»lock». You should use this feature particularly when travelling in order to prevent the appliance from being accidentally turned on or from settings being changed. When travelling it is also recommended to push back the telescopic antenna ® and to lock it on the appliance. You should also close and lock the protective cover. Important: The lock function « • lock» must always be deactivated before using the appliance. The Braun ABR 314 df can either be operated with 4 alkaline Mignon batteries (LR 6, MN1500, AM 3, AA alkaline, e.g. Duracell) or by means of the Braun AC/DC adapter 3 869. in case the adapter© is not supplied with your specific model, it is available at Braun Service Centres (part no. 3869720). Inserting batteries Do not use rechargeable batteries, since their voltage level is too low. To open the battery compartment © slide the two arrow-shaped grip areas of the cover © downwards. When inserting the batteries take care that the poles are in the right direction. The two batteries in the right section of the battery compartment are positioned on top of each other. The lower battery must be inserted at an angle downwards. Take care that the textile strip is located under the batteries. By pulling the strip the batteries can easily be removed. To close the battery compartment slide the cover upwards until it locks. Battery check system The battery power status is checked in 2 steps. When the batteries start to run low, firstly the tight ceases to function. The battery symbol I I-appears in the display for a short time instead of the light, if the light has been activated automatically or manually. When the battery voltage falls even lower, the battery symbol flashes permanently in the display. Replace the batteries. Notice: After each replacement of the batteries, the settings of alarm time and tuning/storing of radio stations must be done again. When operating the appliance by means of the adapter ©, the batteries, if stiil in the battery compartment, will be switched off automatically. In case of mains failure, the settings of alarm time and radio stations will not be lost. To protect the environment, dispose of empty batteries at your retail store or at appropriate collection sites according to national or local regulations. Reception Initial automatic reception As soon as the batteries have been inserted, 3 flashing lines appear in the display and the hands begin to move. Once the hands reach 12 o’clock, the display shows the time as «0.00». The symbol @ appears, indicating that the time is being set by means of the radio signal. The seconds display remains at «00». Time and date are being set automatically. Normal reception Symbol @ remains constant. After a maximum of 1 minute, the seconds begin to run in the display. After approximately 1 more minute, the correct time display will appear. The hands of the clock will run automatically to the correct places. After a maximum of two minutes, the @ symbol will disappear. Interference The inner segment of symbol © flashes. Notice: When you have interference, turn the appliance around or move it to another place. until the inner segment of symbol (R) is constant. No reception O symbol is constant.
