See "Still image camera settings" , p. 69. Background Use a simple background. For portraits and otherpictures with people, avoid having your in front of a cluttered, complex background that may distractattention from the subject. Move the camera, or thesubject, when these conditions cannot be met. Movethe camera closer to the object to take clearer portraits. Depth When shooting landscapes and sceneries, add depth toyour pictures by placing objects in the foreground. Ifthe foreground object is too close to the camera, it maybe blurred. Lighting conditions Changing the source, amount, and direction of lightcan change photographs dramatically. Here are sometypical lighting conditions: . Light source behind the subject. Avoid placing yoursubject in front of a strong light source. If the lightsource is behind the subject or visible in the display, the resulting picture may have weak contrast, maybe too dark, and may contain unwanted lighteffects. . Sidelit subject. Strong side light gives a dramaticeffect but may be too harsh, resulting in too muchcontrast. . Light source in front of the subject. Harsh sunlightmay cause the subjects to squint their eyes. Thecontrast may also high. . Optimal lighting is found in situations where thereis plenty of diffused, soft light available, for Camera example, on a bright, partially cloudy day or on asunny day in the shadow of trees.
