The Butane gas continues to flow over the preheated special catalyst contained in the tip is preheated with a catalyst generating infrared heat which is either butane flame. The preheated flame is extinguished conducted through the soldering iron tip or passed when the shutter is closed over the ignition vent. through the heat tip as hot gas. Fill with Ultratane™ Butane Use only Master Ultratane butane with your down onto refill opening (fig. 1). Unit is full when gas Ultratorch. Make sure on/off lever is in “off” position overflows refill opening. Check window for fuel level. before filling. To fill, press nozzle of butane can Ignition Instructions 1. Place gas control lever at the middle and push gas open switch up. 2. Push the knurled nut upward to open ignition holes. 3. Ignite, keeping air take-in hole open as illustrated (fig. 2). Hold knurled nut until the catalyst glows. 4. Temperature of the soldering tip can be adjusted by moving gas control lever between left/right. The hot exhaust air comes out of the exhaust opening in the tip. Be sure to keep combustibles and hands clear from the opening to avoid fire and burns. Temperature of the hotblow can be adjusted by moving gas control lever from left/right. Use as a Soldering Iron, Heat Tool or Hot Knife 1. Choose appropriate accessory tip. remove any existing tip and tip housing. 2. To install new tip – loosen knurled nut to 3. Re-install chosen tip and housing onto unit. Use as a Torch 1. Loosen and remove tip by turning the knurled nut 4. Ignite with a lighter as shown (fig. 4). to right (fig. 3). 5. Adjust the flame height by moving gas control 2. Make sure gas control lever is at the middle (fig. 4). lever between left/right. 3. Push gas switch to “ON” position. To Replace Ejector 1. Change ejector unit when gas does not flow. 3. Insert new ejector unit and push the unit down till 2. Pull ejector unit upward, then the unit will come seated. off (fig. 5). Storage of Your Ultratorch Heat Tool 1. Allow unit to cool and put protective cap on for storage. from children. 2. If your unit is not going to be used for awhile, 3. Leave tank approximately 1/2 full so lubrication of store in the following manner. Store in proper fuel pickup filter stays wet. location avoiding elevated temperatures and away 4. Set flow control valve at low setting. How to Empty Tank of Butane Gas if Needed 1.Only empty fuel tank in a well ventilated area and away from ignition sources. Remember butane is heavier than air. 2.Depress the filler valve at the back of the tank with a small bladed screwdriver and let the butane gas escape through the small orifice opening. It takes approximately one minute for the butane to escape from the tank. Be careful that the butane does not hit against your fingers or hands. This could cause frostbite of the skin. 3.One method is to poke a small bladed screwdriver through a piece of paper and then carefully depress the filler valve. The escaping gas will hit the paper and not your hand (fig. 6). 4.Never turn gas lever to “ON” and allow gas to evacuate through the ejector/tip. Doing this will clog the ejector and lead to premature failure. 5. Never try to unscrew the filler valve as it is adhesively bonded to the tank. Breaking of this bond will destroy the unit, causing the tank to leak.
