Full picture size • The picture is non-uniformly enlarged—it is stretched wider to fill the width of the screen, but not stretched taller. •None of the picture is hidden. SCROL L AD JUSTMENTTO AD JUST : +35 SCROL L A D JUS TMENTTO AD JUST : —20 Selecting the cinema mode When you view a DVD movie (3:2 pulldown processed) from a DVD player connected to the ColorStream (component video) or DVI/HDCP inputs on the TV, smoother and more natural motion can be obtained by setting the CINEMA MODE to FILM. To set the CINEMA MODE to FILM: 1. Press MENU, and then press x or • until the THEATER menu appears. THEATER 2. Press y or z to highlight CINEMA MODE. WOW SRS 3D OFF FOCUS OFF 3. The scroll amounts are as follows: • 480i signal source: Wide 1 : Not adjustable Wide 2 : +45 to –20 Wide 3 : +45 to –20 • 480p signal source: Wide 1 : Not adjustable Wide 2 : +30 to –20 Wide 3 : +30 to –20 • 1080i signal source: Wide 1 : Not adjustable Wide 2 : +30 to –20 Wide 3 : +30 to –20 • 720p signal source: Wide 1 : Not available Wide 2 : Not available Wide 3 : Not available CINEMA MODE FILM / VIDEO To turn off the CINEMA MODE: Select VIDEO in step 3 above. 34 Using the POP double-window feature The POP (picture-out-picture) feature splits the screen into a double window that allows you to watch two programs at the same time. The POP program can come from a TV broadcast or an external source, such as a VCR. To display a TV broadcast in the POP window: 1. Press PIP to display the POP window. POP 12 Main window POP window 2. Press PIP CH yz to change the channel of the POP window. If the V-CHIP feature is active and you try to watch a TV program that exceeds your set rating limits, the program will be blocked (see “Using the V-CHIP menu” on page 38). POP BLOCKED 24 To display a picture from an external source in the POP window: 1. Connect the external source equipment (see “Connecting your TV” on page 7). 2. Select the TV program you want to watch in the main window. 3. Press PIP to display the POP window. 4. Press SOURCE to display the POP SOURCE SELECTION window. Select the desired input source by pressing the corresponding number button (0–3). The current source displays in purple. You can view a video tape as the POP picture, or select a channel for the POP window using the VCR’s channel keys. POP SOURCE SELECT I ON 0: TV 1: VIDEO 1 2: VIDEO 2 3: VIDEO 3 0–3: TO SELECT Note: You cannot view a ColorStream, DVI, or ANT 2 source in the POP window. To close the POP window: Press PIP again. Note: • The PIP buttons on the remote control operate the TV’s POP features. • You cannot access POP features when viewing ColorStream HD1/HD2 or DVI input. • You cannot display the ANT-2 signal source in the POP window. • You can output the sound of either the main or POP program from the Audio OUT jacks (see “Selecting the Audio OUT sound” on page 52). PIP SOURCE PIP CH yz NOTICE OF POSSIBLE ADVERSE EFFECTS ON TV PICTURE TUBE Avoid displaying stationary images on your TV screen for extended periods of time. Fixed (non-moving) images (such as still PIP/POP windows or black/gray bars in wide-screen picture or PIP/POP formats) can become permanently engrained in the picture tube. This type of damage is NOT COVERED BY YOUR WARRANTY because it is the result of misuse. See item 32 on page 4.
