Keep them in a safe place for future reference. • When in use, the toaster generates high temperatures around the bread slot. Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use the handles and buttons. • Bread can burn. Toasters should not be used near or under curtains or other flammable materials. They must be watched. • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. • Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years. • The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. • Do not use the appliance outdoors. • Do not insert metal objects into the toaster as this may lead to fire or an electric shock. Do not use knives, forks or any other metal object to extract toast or crumbs. • Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid. • Do not place anything on top of the toaster while it is in use. • Keep the toaster away from heat sources. Do not leave the cord hanging or let it touch hot surfaces. • Do not lay the toaster on either of its sides. • Do not insert food that is too large for the toaster. • Do not try to extract food while the toaster is in use. • Disconnect the appliance when it is not in use and before cleaning it. Let it cool before cleaning. • This appliance is designed exclusively for use in the home. Use it only in this way. • Do not use the appliance if the cord or plug is damaged, if you notice that it is not working properly or if it has suffered any kind of damage. Repairs or cord replacement must only be carried out by the Authorised Technical Service. Note: The position of the browning selector shall be varied depending on the degree of humidity of the bread you are using. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS When you connect the toaster for the first time, heat it four times at the maximum position without bread in order to eliminate residual odour. Extralift (Fig.1) As soon as the toast is browned to the selected setting, the toaster will switch itself off automatically and eject the toast. The operating lever may be lifted up slightly beyond its normal position to help remove smaller pieces of toast. Browning control Set the browning control in the desired position (1-7) to obtain toast to your taste. 1 Shortest toasting time 7 Longest toasting time On pressing the operating lever, the slice of bread enters the slot and the toaster is activated (Fig.2) Stop button On pressing the STOP button, the cycle is automatically stopped and the bread is ejected. The toasting process may be interrupted at any moment by pressing this button. Reheat function To re-heat cold toast, use the operating lever (2) and press the re-heat button (4). The toaster will come on for 30 seconds, regardless of the position that the toasting setting (7) is set to. The red pilot lamp around the re-heat button will light up throughout this process. Defrost function When you use frozen bread, press down the operating lever (2) and press the defrost button (5). The red pilot lamp around the defrost button will light up throughout this process. Types of bread The toaster accepts most kinds of regular sliced bread. Caketype bread and similar products are unsuitable for toasting and must not be used with this toaster. CLEANING Risk of electric shock Never immerse the device in water or place it in the dishwasher! Before cleaning the toaster, check that it is disconnected from the mains and completely cold. Clean the outside with a damp cloth. Do not insert any metal utensil into the slot to extract the bread. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Removing crumbs Open the crumb tray by pressing the button (6) and remove the particles. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the toaster from the mains before performing this operation. Cord storage The cord may be stored by rolling it around the support at the base of the toaster. Repairs If your appliance is defective, do not hesitate to take it to an Authorised Technical Service.
