Facilité d'utilisation

• Device Diagnostics Wizard: Helps administrators troubleshoot connectivity or configuration
issues between any devices in the SAN. A detailed report provides the administrator with a
complete list of potential problems or verification of correct operation.
• Two new reports: The Fabric Summary and Physical Inventory reports provide SAN
administrators quick access to valuable information.
• RADIUS configuration: Ful y integrated with RADIUS to provide centralized authentication.
Includes a facility to easily distribute RADIUS set ings across multiple switches.
• Topology view enhancements: The performance of the fabric topology view is now much more
responsive. For example, topology view on large fabrics (1280 or more ports), which used to
take close to 20 minutes to view, can now be viewed within 5 to 10 seconds. Layout (core-edge,
circular, or tree) and link style changes are now also performed within seconds. In addition, you
can also switch to topology view during fabric discovery (and monitor dynamic topology
changes), and you can also discover fabrics while you are in topology view.
Installation notes
Consider the following with respect to the installation of Fabric Manager 5.x:
• If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Fabric Manager, see the HP StorageWorks
Fabric Manager 5.x administrator guide for upgrade information.
• If you are installing the Fabric Manager Client over an existing installation without first
uninstalling the old version, the installation wizard does not check to see whether there is an
existing path specified for the Fabric Manager Client during the installation. It just appends to
the system path file, resulting in multiple paths.
Although multiple paths do not affect functionality, they could result in other applications being
unable to add additional path names, since the Fabric Manager Client path is too lengthy. If
you see this problem, manually edit the system path to include only one Fabric Manager Client
directory.
• The client and server software poll different fabric information directly, so the client and server
must be able to access each switch through an IP connection. Make sure the network
environment does not have any proxy sever or firewall installations between the client and the
server and the switches. If one exists, ensure that proper rules are set up to allow access. See the
HP StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.x administrator guide for additional information.
• You must choose your SAN size during the installation of Fabric Manager 5.x. See the HP
StorageWorks Fabric Manager 5.x administrator guide for additional information.
• If you are installing Fabric Manager server on a Windows® host that has virus-checking
software, you must disable the virus-checking software during the instal ation.
• If you upgrade a client and specify a different IP address and port number for the server, the
new information is not appended to the properties file. The new values are not picked up by the
client during an upgrade, so when you launch the client, you must reenter the server IP address
and port number during the client login.
• Installation of Fabric Manager is not supported on machines with more than one Ethernet card.
• Fabric Manager must be installed on a dedicated machine that is not running any other server
applications, such as another database server.
