Temperature Control Dial 4 Temperature and Steam Settings Temperature Control Dial The Temperature Control Dial of your iron has fabric settings, dots, and steam symbols. a) Some fabric settings are indicated from lowest to highest temperature. b) The dots are International symbols for 3 temperature ranges: • Low Temperature – synthetics (nylon, acetate) •• Medium Temperature – silk/wool/acrylic ••• High Temperature – cotton/linen/rayon/polyester These dots correspond to international recommendations for safe pressing temperatures. Fabrics are typically labeled with the dots on garment care tags. They are a guide for selecting the proper ironing temperature setting. c) The steam symbols are used for selecting steam settings. Steam should only be used at the high temperature setting. Adjustable Steam Dial When steam is desired, you can choose the level of steam that best suits your fabric. Adjust the steam dial between NO STEAM and full steam . Adjustable Steam Dial 5 840153200 Ev05.qxd 8/9/06 8:42 AM Page 6 How to Dry Iron 1. Turn the Adjustable Steam Dial to . 2. Turn Temperature Control Dial to desired temperature. Allow two minutes for iron to reach desired temperature. How to Steam Iron 1. Unplug iron. Using a cup, slowly pour tap water into water tank opening until MAX fill line is reached. Plug iron into outlet. 2. Turn Temperature Control Dial to desired setting in the steam range. Allow two minutes for the iron to reach desired temperature. 3. Turn the Adjustable Steam Dial to desired steam setting. Water: Please use ordinary tap water. If you have extremely hard water, alternate between tap water and distilled water for use in the iron. 6 Features Spray and Blast of Steam Buttons Push Blast Button for an extra blast of steam. Do not press Blast Button more than every 5 seconds. Push Spray Button to release a fine spray of water for difficult wrinkles in cotton or linen. Spray Steam Vertical Steam 1. Follow Steps 1 through 3 in “To Steam Iron.” 2. Hang garment in a location that is not susceptible to damage from heat or moisture. Do not hang in front of wallpaper, window, or mirror. 3. Hold iron about 6 inches away from garment and press and release Blast of Steam Button to steam out wrinkles. Do not press Blast of Steam Button more than once every 2 seconds. 4. To turn iron off, turn Temperature Control Dial to OFF ( O ). Unplug iron. 5. Empty water from the iron following directions in “Caring for Your Iron.” NOTE: Do not allow hot soleplate to touch delicate garments. 7 840153200 Ev05.qxd 8/9/06 8:42 AM Page 8 Optional Features (on select models) Auto Shutoff Reset (on select models) The light comes on when the iron is first plugged in. After one hour, the iron will shut off and the light will go out. Push the Reset Button to turn the iron back on. Power ON Light On units not provided with Auto Shutoff, this light comes on when the iron is plugged in and remains on until the iron is unplugged. The light stays on even if the Temperature Control Dial is turned to OFF ( O ) . Caring and Cleaning Iron 1. Turn Temperature Control Dial to OFF ( O ). Unplug and let cool. The iron takes longer to cool down than it does to heat up. 2. To empty water from iron, slowly tilt pointed end of iron down over a sink. Water will run out of water tank opening. 3.
