Turn on the TV and set it to channel 3 or 4, whichever 1 channel the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the VCR is set 2Insert a tape in the VCR. to. 2 2 Insert a tape in the VCR. The POWER, VCR/TV, and CST. IN lights will appear on the display panel. If the tape’s record tab is missing, playback will start automatically. 3 3 If playback does not start automatically, press the PLAY/o button. 4 4 Press the STOP/p button to stop playback. 5 5 Press the REW(ind)/{ button to rewind the tape. 6 6 Press the EJECT button to remove the tape. Press the PLAY/o button. • Other playback options and features are on pages 33-40. • If REPEAT PLAY is ON, playback will begin automatically when you insert a tape, even when the record tab is intact. Details are on page 33. • Tape playback will not begin automatically if a timer recording is set and the VCR power is off. You need to choose a channel other than 3 or 4 at the TV to see the VCR image on your TV. mvr630mg.QX33 2/11/02 12:05 PM Page 25 Recording 25 Read and follow the steps below to record a television program. 1 1 Turn on the TV and set it to channel 3 or 4 - the channel to which the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the VCR is set. 2 2 Insert a tape with its record tab intact in the VCR. If playback begins, press the STOP/p button to stop the tape. 3 3 If the VCR/TV light appears on the display panel, go to step 4. If the VCR/TV light does not appear, press the VCR/TV button once. 4 4 Press the SPEED button repeatedly until the desired tape speed (SP or SLP) appears briefly on the screen. (Details about tape speed are on page 30.) 5 5 Use the CH(annel) o/p button or the Number buttons to select the channel you want to record. 6 6 Press the REC(ord)/OTR button once to start recording. The RECORD light will appear on the display panel. 7 7 To pause the recording, press the STILL/PAUSE button once. The RECORD light will flash. To resume recording, press the REC(ord)/OTR button or press the STILL/PAUSE button again. The RECORD light will appear on the VCR display panel. 2 2 Press the VCR/TV button to put the VCR in TV position. The VCR/TV light will disappear from the VCR display panel. 3 3 Use the TV remote control to select the channel you want to watch at the TV. 4 4 To return to the channel being recorded, use the TV remote control to select channel 03 or 04 at the TV (the channel to which the CH3/CH4 switch on the back of the VCR is set). 5 5 Press the VCR/TV button to put the VCR in VCR position. The VCR/TV light will appear on the VCR display panel again. 6 6 Press the STOP/p button to stop the recording.
