The edit point in question will be reset, enabling another point to be entered. • Bear in mind that if the counter reset button is pressed prior to pressing the mark IN or mark OUT button, the entry of all the edit start and end points will be simultaneously cleared. 3. Press the edit start button. • When the edit start button is pressed, the edit start LED lights and editing commences. The jog/shuttle dials and function buttons other than the edit stop button cannot be operated until editing is completed. • When editing is completed, both the player and recorder are set to the PLAY PAUSE mode, and the function buttons and dials can be operated again. □ EDIT START 8 How to Use ■ Important: In order to protect the tape and the VTR itself, the VTR is designed to be automatically set to the stop mode when it has been left in the pause mode for about 5 minutes. If the VTR goes into the stop mode automatically between the pressing of the unit’s edit start button and commencement of editing, the editing operation will be suspended, and the already entered IN and OUT points will be cleared. It is recommended that the steps below be taken before the edit start button is pressed. 1)When the present tape position is more than 20 minutes away from the edit start point, operate the search dial and move the tape manually to the edit start point. 2) When the VTR is kept in the still-picture playback mode for more than 5 minutes, proceed with the playback operation every 5 minutes or less (at the 1 x speed). 4. To forcibly stop editing prior to its completion, press the edit stop button. . During insert editing, both the player and recorder are set to the PLAY PAUSE mode; during assemble editing, both the player and recorder are set to the stop mode. EDIT STOP 5. When editing is completed (or forcibly stopped), the edit IN and OUT points are automatically cleared. Notes: • When the player VTR has started editing, the tape is first rewound for about 8 seconds from the edit IN point. This means that the first 8 seconds on the tape after its start cannot be edited. • Always start editing after the edit mode (insert or assemble) has been selected. Editing will not start when the mode has not been selected, • Do not touch any of the VTR’s function buttons without good reason while editing is in progress. Otherwise, editing may be suspended or the editing controller’s operation may be disabled. To prevent this kind of situation from occurring, set the mode lock switch on the VTR to ON. • Use a pr-erecorded tape in the recorder VTR for insert editing. The recorder VTR will not operate properly if a blank tape is used. • When setting the editing points, bear in mind that these points may shift if the tape direction is changed suddenly from +7x to -7x normal speed for instance. • Use a tape which has been recorded in the standard (2H) mode and proceed with editing in the standard (2H) mode recording status. Bear in mind that when a tape recorded in the 6H mode is used and editing is conducted in the 6H mode, the editing accuracy will not be as high as in the 2H mode. 9 Assemble Editing Assemble editing refers to the process of recording new material from any position or a prerecorded tape so that this material is joined to (that is. assembled with) the existing material on the tape. For instance, new program (B) can be added onto the end of existing program (A), as shown in the figure below. In the assemble editing mode, the video/Hi-Fi audio, normal audio and control signals are all edited at the same time.
