** If you record a satellite programme using non-timer recording "L4" appears in the programme position without displaying any channel number. Tip • You can manually name a recorded programme and select the category. You can also name the SmartFile tape. Notes • If you don’t set the clock or the clock isn’t set to the correct time and date, the recording start time won’t be stored correctly on the Smartfile list. Also the programme label won’t be stored correctly if the TV guide page information of the Teletext is not set correctly (see page 80). • When you set the AUTO LONG PLAY option to ON in the TAPE OPTIONS menu, and the tape speed automatically changes from SP to LP during recording, the VCR displays the entire recording time converted in SP mode to the SmartFile list. • The recording time length in the SmartFile list is an estimation and may be slightly different from the actual recorded time length. Recording using the SmartFile function SmartFile function Recording after locating the Blank Time space The SmartFile function identifies not only the largest amount of available blank space, but also recorded material that doesn’t have corresponding programme data stored in the SmartFile label. The longest available recording space (including programmes that are not stored on the SmartFile label) is referred to as "Blank Time space". You can locate the beginning of the Blank Time space for recording. If there is a recorded programme after the Blank Time space, the VCR will over-record on that programme unless you stop recording.
