Section I: Installation The following terms are used throughout this manual to bring attention to the presence of hazards of various risk levels, or to important information concerning the life of the product. An explanation of each term is given below: DANGER Danger is used to indicate the presence of a hazard which will cause severe personal injury, death or substantial property damage if the warning is ignored. CAUTION Caution is used to indicate the presence of a hazard which will or can cause minor personal injury or property damage if the warning is ignored. WARNING Warning is used to indicate the presence of a hazard which can cause severe personal injury, death or substantial property damage if the warning is ignored. NOTICE Notice is used to notify of special instructions on installation, operation or maintenance which are important but not related to personal injury hazards. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CAN VOID WARRANTY Installations must comply with all local codes, laws, regulations and ordinances. Also United States National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1-1980, obtain from: American Gas Association, 1515 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington (Rosslyn), Virginia 22209. When required, the installation must conform to American Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Code for Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers, No. CSD-1. Safe lighting and other performance criteria were met with the gas manifold and control assembly provided on the boiler when the boiler underwent tests specified in the ANSI Z223.1-1980 standard. In Canada the installation must comply with National Standard of Canada CAN 1-B149.1 or .2, Installation Code for Natural Gas Burning Appliances. The installation is exempt from compliance with clauses 6.13.1 and 6.13.5 of CAN 1-B149.1. Clause 6.14.3 of CAN 1B149.1 is supplemented by the following subsection: (c) or in accordance with the manufacturer’s certified instructions.
