In California, new ULGE engines produced on or after August 1, 1995 must be designed, built and equipped to meet the State’s stringent anti-smog standards. Elsewhere in the United States, new non-road, spark-ignition engines certified for model year 1997 and later, must meet similar standards set forth by the U.S. EPA.
