Imation, the Imation Logo, the circle-pyramid logo, SuperDisk and SuperDisk logo are trademarks of Imation Corp. Usage Precautions • Do not leave a disk in the drive while transporting your computer. Remove the disk by pressing the eject button before your computer is OFF or enters the suspend/hibernation mode, so the head locking mechanism may engage when the computer is powered off. • Do not remove a disk while accessing data. This may damage data on the disk. (While accessing the disk, the access lamp ) lights. Be sure that the access lamp is turned off when removing a disk.) • Never insert foreign objects into the slot of the Superdisk Drive Pack. It may cause a malfunction. • Only use labels that come with disks. • If dust has accumulated on the head surface, problems may occur when reading or writing data. In this case, cleaning the head is recommended using a cleaner kit. (SDD HCL produced by Imation) • During the initial 10 seconds after inserting a Superdisk or during data access, a shrill noise may be produced. This is not a malfunction. • Do not place the AC adapter to the front of the Supcrdisk Drive Pack. Magnetic noise may cause an error. • Do not disassemble the Superdisk Drive Pack. • Do not use the Superdisk Drive Pack during the initial boot up of the computer (when creating the Firstaid FD). The Superdisk Drive Pack can be used to access both Superdisks and standard floppy disks. (It may take about 10 minutes to format the Superdisk. Because of this, be sure to disable the power saving function beforehand by, for example, pressing ( Fn ) + ( F8 ) so as not to enter the power saving mode while formatting the Superdisk.) X©SQPUQgG3)-^ • An error may occur later in the process of formatting a write-protected medium. To prevent this, be sure to format the medium after confirming beforehand that the write-protect state has been changed. • DISKCOPY command does not support the Superdisk. • Remove the check mark from [Auto insert notification] and [DMA] under [Start]-[Settings]-[Control Panel]-[System]-[Device Manager]-[Disk drives]-[MATSHITA LS-120 SLIM****]-[Settings]-[Options]. • When MS-Backup is executed, the message "No Controller board detected" may be displayed. In this case, replace the Superdisk Pack to the floppy disk drive, execute MS-Backup. When an error message is displayed, click [OK], then continue running the MS-backup program. After MS-Backup, insert the Superdisk Pack again. • If [3 1/2 Floppy (A:)] is accessed when the floppy disk drive or Superdisk Drive Pack is not connected, it may take several minutes for the computer to resume operation. Mount it into the multimedia pocket. • When a Superdisk Drive Pack is installed, do not use a floppy disk drive pack with a FDD cable (CF-VCF271)._^ 7 Power off your computer ((^"Operating Instructions" of the computer, "Shutting Down") Do not shut down using the suspend or hibernation mode. r In the suspend or hibernation mode, do not remove/change the multimedia pocket device. Removing the device in the suspend or hibernation mode may damage the device. N--------' 2 • Removing the device (Floppy disk drive) cover (T) Turn your computer over and open the cover by sliding the latch. (2) Press the MP release button. The device will eject slightly. (^) Remove the device by holding both sides of the device. r MP Release Button Please handle the device as shown (holding both sides). Otherwise, the device may be damaged. Also, do not apply excessive downward force on the device. installing the device (Superdisk Drive Pack) Gently insert the device into the multimedia pocket by pushing on both corners until it clicks into place. Do not install the device upside-down. 3 Power on your computer 7 Troubleshooting The computer does not recognize the Superdisk Drive Pack. Is the Superdisk Drive Pack properly mounted in the multimedia pocket? The access lamp (@) does not light. Is the disk set correctly? Cannot read data from the disk. 9 Is the disk bent, scratched, or dirty? 9 Remove the check mark from [Auto insert notification] under [Options] in [Start] -[Settings] - [Control Panel ] - [System] - [Device Manager] - [Disk Drives) - [MATSHITA LS-120 SLIM****], then press [OK], Cannot eject the disk. Is the computer powered on? If not, power on and press the eject button.
