SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT USE THIS CLIPPER UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THESE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. OPERATE ON VOLTAGE SPECIFIED ON CLIPPER: Not all clippers have an adjustable blade. If you have a deluxe adjustable clipper, the following instructions apply to your clipper. The adjustable clippers have a blade that enables you to cut hair at various lengths. To adjust: Move thumb blade adjustment lever down for coarse (B) cutting and up for fine (A) cutting. OPERATING THE CLIPPER: 1. Remove the blade guard from the unit which is covering the teeth of the blades. 2. Disperse a few drops of Oster® Premium Lubricating Oil across the blades. Wipe off excess with a clean, dry cloth. DO NOT IMMERSE THE CLIPPER INTO ANY LUBRICANT. 3. Plug the clipper into electrical outlet. 4. Push the on-off switch to turn the clipper to “ON” position. 5. When finished clipping, turn the clipper off and unplug from the electrical outlet. 6. Clean hair clippings from the blades using clipper brush or an old toothbrush. Wipe the housing with a clean, dry cloth. 7. Before replacing the blade guard for clipper storage, spread one or two drops of oil over the blade to prevent the blade from rusting. STORAGE Replace the blade guard. Coil the electric cord and secure with paper (not metal) twist fastener. Store clipper in its original carton in a dry location. BLADE SHARPENING: Oster® cutting blades are of individual hollow-ground design, hardened to extend cutting life. As with any cutting instrument, the cutting edges will become dull with usage. Increasing blade tension to force dull blades to cut can cause the clipper to heat and reduce motor life, and further shorten blade life. When the cutting blades no longer cut smooth and clean, sharpening is necessary. When sharpening blades becomes necessary, send blades to DIRECT sm or an Authorized Service Center (see service manual for listings) where approved methods, equipment and proper knowledge are used to restore the original hollow-ground design and best cutting ability sharpening blades by flat grinding or any method contrary to the design and construction of Oster® cutting blades is not recommended.
