12. To avoid dangerous overheating, it is advisable to unwind the mains cable fully and unplug the appliance from the mains socket when not in use. 13. Do not attempt to change the mains cable on this appliance. If it is damaged, the appliance must be thrown away. 14. Prolonged use of the appliance at maximum temperature may cause burns to the skin. Do not pull the appliance along by the mains cable or use the cable as carry handle. 15. The appliance can only be used with the types of controls indicated on the appliance label. 16. Never immerse this appliance into water. 17. When you decide to dispose the appliance, it must be rendered unusable by cutting the mains cable off, after unplugging it from the mains socket. We advise to do the same with all potentially hazardous parts on the appliance, especially those that children might be tempted to play with. 18. It is recommended that people with pacemakers do not use the heated bedding for all-night use. 19. Do not use on an adjustable bed, or, if used on an adjustable bed, check that the underblanket or cord can not become trapped, kinked or twisted. POSITIONING AND FITTING INSTRUCTIONS Positioning the underblanket. Ensure that the underblanket is not jammed into position and the surface is not creased. 1. Lay the underblanket directly on top of the mattress, making sure it does not go under the pillows. 2. Place the bottom sheet on top of the underblanket and make sure the underblanket is lying flat without any creases. 3. The connecting plug(s) must be on the upper surface at the foot of the bed. 4. Do not fold or tuck in any of the wired areas, the connector or the lead to the control as this could result in functioning the blanket at a temperature above the safety cut out system temperature. 5. The bedclothes can now be pulled over the mattress in the usual manner. PLACING IT ON THE MATTRESSLONG CABLE PLACED UNDER THE BED (NOT UNDER THE MATTRESS) CONTROLSOCKET Fitting instructions Connecting and disconnecting the temperature control unit. 1. Single blanket: The single Ufesa underblanket is operated via single heat control. 2. Double blanket: The double blanket has dual controls which may be operated independently allowing each occupant to set the temperature to his or her own particular requirements. 3. Connect the socket(s) A to plug B on the blanket. Ensure each plug is pushed fully in until the locking catch engages. SWITCHING THE APPLIANCE ON IMPORTANT: This underblanket has a safety device that controls the temperature by switching the appliance on and off at regular intervals. The appliance provides gentle, harmless heat. - To use the underblanket, insert the connector into the wall socket and switch it on. An approved extension cable can be used if the cable does not reach the wall socket, this can be purchased at any reputable electrical retailers. NOTE: Make sure that the control is set to 0 before plugging it in and switching it on. - To switch on the electric underblanket and adjust to the required heat setting, set the required temperature on the thermostat. Fig. 2 When the temperature is set on the thermostat (2), the underblanket switches on and the indicator light (3) comes on. Fig. 3 If the thermostat (2) is set to position “0”, the underblanket switches off and the indicator light (3) goes out. Operation 0 OFF ••• Minimum temperature for more prolonged use, suitable for overnight operation. ••• Intermediate temperature. ••• High temperature, suitable for preheating the bed but not using for all night use. HEAT SETTING Pre-heat To pre-heat the bed, the maximum setting is recommended. For rapid heating turn the control to position 3. All night use After pre-heating, if the underblanket is to be used for all-night warmth, the setting should be reduced to setting 1. Use Detachable Control Switch The Ufesa underblanket has a detachable control switch which allows the electric underblanket to be washed. The underblanket can be disconnected from the control switch by separating A and B. Automatic switch-off To prevent unsupervised operation, the underblanket automatically switches off after approx. 12 hours continuous operation. The indicator light is still illuminated. To switch on the underblanket again, first set the thermostat to “0” and then to the required temperature. - After use, pull out the mains plug. CLEANING, STORAGE Caution: Before cleaning, always pull out the mains plug! - Because all of the electrical components are hermitically sealed, the electrical underblanket can be hand or machine washed. Nevertheless it is advisable to hand wash the underblanket in warm water at 40.C. - Do not use bleacher. Machine Wash If using a washing machine, select the “Wool” program (up to 40.C) for washing and spinning. Do not use a steam cleaner. DO NOT USE THE ELECTRIC. UNDERBLANKET IF IT IS STILL DAMP.
