Precautions for Use • Do not connect the product to any device not specifi cal ly referred to in this manual. • Unplug the AC adapter when it is not in use. • Do not short the EP-5 power connector or the EH-5 DC plug. • Do not apply excessive force to the EP-5 DC IN connector or DC plug while the power connector is in stalled in the camera. Failure to ob serve this precau tion may re sult in damage to the product. • Before removing the EP-5 from the camera or disconnecting the DC plug from the DC IN connector, unplug the AC adapter. Using the EP-5 Turn the camera off before connecting the EP-5. 1 Open the camera battery-chamber cover as described in the camera manual (Figure 1- ; illustration shows a D40 digital camera). Open the power connector cover () and insert the EP-5 into the battery chamber, making sure that the “+” and “–” terminals are in the correct orientation (). Guide the power cord into the opening left by the power connector cover () and close the battery-chamber cover (). 2 Insert the EH-5 AC adapter plug into the EH-5 AC inlet (Figure 2-a). 3 Connect the EH-5 DC plug to the EP-5 DC IN connector (Figure 2-b). To ensure a good connection, make sure the DC plug is fully inserted. 4 Connect the wall plug into a power outlet. The POWER lamp will glow, show ing the EH-5 is plugged in (Figure 2-c). 5 Turn the camera on. You can now use the camera.
