1 Open the battery-chamber cover in the base of the camera handgrip (Figure 2-a) and remove the battery, if present. 2 Remove the coupling contact cover, also found on the base of the camera, by pushing it in and sliding it out as shown in Figure 2-b. 3 Leaving the battery-chamber cover of the camera open and lining it up with the battery-chamber cover receptacle in the battery pack, insert the battery pack as shown in Figure 2-c. 4 Firmly tighten the attachment wheel (Figure 2-d). To remove the battery pack, reverse the above steps. Inserting Batteries (Use Six LR-6 (AA) Batteries) Before inserting batteries, be sure that the camera is off and that the shutter-release button locking ring on the battery pack is in the L position. 1 Slide the battery-chamber cover latch on the base of the battery pack to the position and remove the battery-chamber cover (Figure 2-e). 2 Insert six LR-6 (AA) batteries, taking care to orient the battery terminals as shown in Figure 2-f. Be sure the end of the battery removal ribbon protrudes from under the batteries as also shown in Figure 2-f. 3 Replace the battery-chamber cover and slide the battery-chamber cover latch to the position (Figure 2-g). 4 Turn the camera on and check the battery level in the control panel on the rear of the camera. To remove the batteries, reverse the above steps (Figure 2-h). Battery Pack Shutter-Release and Zoom Buttons The battery pack is equipped with shutter-release and zoom buttons for taking portrait-orientation photographs. These serve the same function as the shutter-release and zoom buttons on the camera. For details, please refer to the Guide to Digital Photography included with your camera. The shutter-release button on the battery pack is equipped with a locking mechanism. To use the battery pack shutter-release button, rotate the locking ring to the • (on) position. The shutter-release button locking ring on the battery pack cannot be used for turning the camera on and off. To turn the camera on and off, use the camera’s power switch. When the camera is in shooting mode, pressing (for wide angle) on the zoom button zooms the camera out, while pressing (for telephoto) zooms the camera in. In full-screen review mode or full-frame playback mode press to trigger playback zoom and press for thumbnail playback.
